How exciting, after 35 years on my old machine, to have a beautiful brand new sewing machine. I was a little hesitant to learn something new! It sews so beautifully and I love the self threading feature. I don't like having to reset the stitch each time I turn the machine off and am struggling to find the correct 5/8” seam allowance. I'm sure I just need to experiment and read further.
I am very happy with my sewing machine. It has met my expectations and needs. I would recommend this machine to anyone. I have been sewing on another brand for about 40 years and was very happy with it. I had to replace it and went to a dealer who sold that machine and the Brother brand machine. I was not willing to pay the price of the other machine. The demonstrator introduced me to the Brother machine and I found it so easy to use and got more than I expected for the price.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a GREAT Sewing machine for the price and being a male in my 50's it was very easy to set up and use. I was able to take care of so many of my sewing needs and more with this machine and lets not forget about all the different stich patterns.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I'm quite impressed with this sewing machine. I've been sewing for over 40 years, sometimes professionally, and this machine sews straight and true and quiet. I was skeptical about the plastic body, but its seem well made and durable. The automatic needle threader is a great bonus! It has tons of bells and whistles (fancy stitches) on the electronic readout, but it's an even, steady, straight stitch that is the proof of the pudding, and this one has it. It's a nice machine.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this NS80E sewing machine free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion of the product. I must say that for someone new to sewing, this unit is a bit overwhelming, but in a good way. First off, I have "older" eyes, so the self threader is an amazing feature, and it worked every time. There are small diagrams right on the machine to show you which way to loop the thread which is really nice. This machine offers 80 different stitches which you can also customize in length and width. The stitch options are clearly displayed on the unit so I am not sure what the extra plate with the same diagram is for. Maybe just an option for better placement? There are so many different accessories that come with this machine, it may take some time for me to use them all. Oh so many different feet too (ZigZag, Overcast, Zipper, Button Hole, Monogram). Again, I am pretty new to sewing so I didn't realize you needed a different foot for each task. They are pretty easy to switch out though. There's also a handy little compartment right in the front of the machine to store all these accessories which is pretty convenient. This machine is fairly lightweight and the handle makes for easy transport. I am pretty excited about getting to use the double needle - I will be able to get creative and use two different colored threads in my crafting projects. So far I have only tried about a dozen or so of the stitches, and I had no difficultly with the machine at all. I did hem up some fairly thick and quilted winter pants and the needle went through it as though it was single layer fabric. I thought for sure it would jam up or something, but it didn't. Using this machine has been a breeze, and I look forward to using all the bells and whistles on this machine as I learn more. I did a quick internet search, and there are also many tutorials already online showing different techniques. Sometimes seeing a video of what I want to accomplish is easier than reading a manual. I feel this machine a is great investment as it gives a novice room to grow without having to upgrade after mastering the simple skills.
While I did receive compensation for this review, all opinions are my own unbiased opinions. Great features in a small compact machine which is great for taking to quilting retreats. It is nice to have an additional back up machine when my primary machine is in for service. I like that I can pre-program functions to suit my style of sewing, like needle up or needle down when I stop stitching. This machine has an automatic needle threader, which for me is a must!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I'm a beginner with a sewing machine. I thought I was going to be overwhelmed with it. I wasn't. The instructions were great. There are pictures on the machine to guide you. I was very impressed with all of the attachments it came with and it also has a dust cover to keep it clean. There are over 75 different stitches I can do. I can't wait to try them all. I love having a place to store the attachments on the sewing machine. I hope to get to do lots of sewing in the future with my new Brother sewing machine!!
I love my machine. I have had it for over a year, and it does a great job. I have had dificulties with bumping the stitch pattern selection dial and it changing stitches. I have bumped it with my arm and with top sitting my quilt. I wish it had a locking feature. Is there a way to have the needle end in an up position and not down?
So far I like it. Haven't used it every day. I am still getting used to it and learning
Other than being a little on the noisier side, this sewing machine has been perfect for my paper piecing class. I also love the 1/4" foot! It is so accurate! I purchased this machine to use when I go to quilt classes and so far, it has been exactly what I was looking for!
