This is a Brother LX2763 sewing machine. I am already familar with this brand,as I already own one. I bough mine from Walmart 10 years ago and it still works great. No problems with it, which answers the question, 'Do they have a long life span'? Yes, they do. But this machine has more additions than my older one does. This machine has 27 unique built -in stitches. 63 stitch functions,4 feet, 1 step button hole maker. The machine comes with a threaded and installed bobbin where it's suspost to be on this machine. The other question I want to know about this machine is, 'How hard will it be to thread the bobbin and the machine?" The bobbin on this machine is next to the needle, under a clear door. I love this. We will now be able to see when the bobbin is running out of thread. Why hasn't this been thought of before? So I take the one out of the machine and put an empty one on the peg. Now we will see how hard this is to thread the bobbin. It threads fairly simple,Just like my previous machine. Now we will thread the top of the machine. It's just like threading my old machine. The visible bobbin was a great idea. Now we will see how it sews. I used the foot that was already installed in the machine. I'm trying a very narrow hem. You can sew as close as 1/8 inch from the edge of the fabric. It's sewing fine. It sews the perfect hem stitch. It doesn't bunch, or try to run off the fabric. This machine also comes with a needle threader and a lever that allows you to sew backward. I would not hesitate to recomment this machine to a new sewer or an experienced one.
I purchased this machine specifically for paper crafting and for transporting to our children's homes when they have a garment that needs repairing or remodeling. Little did I know what a great machine this was going to be when I expected to use it only occasionally. I'm so pleased with it I may use it more than my high-priced Husqvarna! I have been sewing for nearly 55 years, both personally and professionally. I've purchased only high quality machines because my sewing standards are very high. But after testing nearly every decorative and functional stitch on this machine, including the automatic buttonhole function, I was so impressed with the quality of the stitches, tension, speed and sound level that I'm convinced this machine is every bit as good as machines costing hundreds more. Many thanks to Brother for manufacturing a machine that anyone can afford that is one amazing sewing machine!
Having completed several craft projects today using the Brother LX2763 sewing machine, I think this sewing machine would be more than adequate for the everyday sewing needs of the average person. While this machine is comparatively light weight, it feels very sturdy. Rubber feet on the bottom of the machine prevent it from sliding on the work table. This is a full featured sewing machine which can be operated at impressive speeds on long, straight seams. It is easy to select any one of the 27 different stitches which are conveniently illustrated on the front of the machine. Dials on the top of the machine make it easy to control the length, width, or tension of the selected stitch. The LED light is helpful and the built-in thread cutter is very convenient. The foot pedal control is pleasantly responsive. Six different sewing feet are included, along with several bobbins, and a comprehensive multi-language user manual. An instructional DVD with a 24-minute video is also included. I found it helpful to watch the video before reading the manual and operating the sewing machine. I appreciate the heavy duty box that this machine is packaged in. This box will be re-used indefinitely when storing the sewing machine. Nearly 40 years ago, my wife struggled with a sewing machine when attempting to make clothes for our 5-year old daughter. My assistance was often requested. Somehow I ended up making a lot of clothes for my daughter and evolved into making my own shirts for several years. Now in retirement, I expect to be assisting with various craft related sewing projects using the Brother LX2763.
The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine LX2763 is a great sewing machine for crafting. I have had numerous sewing machines over the years, and this by far is the easiest one to use. I have made curtains, pillows, pillow cases and cross stitched christmas stockings that require sewing, I have never really gotten into making clothes. After watching the instructional video that came included, I was ready to get started. The Brother 27-Stitch sewing machine is lightweight and offers full-featured sewing. Very multifunctional. It has a jam resistant, quick set top drop in bobbin, very simple to use. The automatic bobbin winding system made bobbin winding quick and painless. It does come with a brightly lit LED work area, brightens up the work area quite a bit. The built in threader, let me tell you, this is one of the things that thrills me the most about it. Couldn't quite figure it out at first, but after watching the instructional video is was soooo easy. The hardest part to me about using a sewing machine is threading the needle. This takes that worry away, totally awesome. I had the needle threaded in a matter of seconds. It has 27 built in stitches, 63 stitch functions, and an automatic 1 step buttonhole. When I seen the automatic buttonhole, just couldn't believe how easy and simple it was. Just place the button on the buttonhole plate and the machine sews the perfect buttonhole for it. I plan on using this sewing machine for years to come, I am just awed by all the functions.
First off, I notice that the sewing machine itself, it not so super heavy like the older sewing machines I've used in the past, which is a very pleasant surprise. I also notice that there are a ton of booklets and instruction manuals that arrive with this machine, as well as an instructional DVD. I was unable to use the DVD at the moment as I'm having computer issues with my desktop pc which has the dvd player that my laptop doesn't have. Oh well, I'll check that out later I'm sure. But it's still nice to know that Brother went the 'extra mile" to include an instructional DVD on how to setup the machine for each type of stitching it allows, as well as how to use each of the included special presser feet and attachments for this machine. It probably also shows the extra presser feet that you can buy from them to allow you to do even more specialty things with this machine. Okay I have been sewing on with sewing machines since I was 12 (am now 60) and so you can see that I've been at it for quite a few years. I also started a custom fit lingerie company from my home, for the nurses that I worked with at a local hospital, for a number of years. I also sewed my own cathedral train, wedding dress as well as a few of the bridesmaid dresses for my own wedding. I've made swimsuits, formal wear, casual wear, comforters, quilts, doll clothes, you name it. So yeah, it could easily be said that I know my way around a sewing machine. I've got to say then, that I have pretty exacting standards that I expect a sewing machine to rise up to meet, before I will "rave" about that particular machine. Side note: I have always been very pleased in the past with many other Brother devices, not just sewing machines, so I was very hopeful that this machine would live up to the pleasant history I have had with other Brother products. All in all I have to say this machine has been put through some rough tests with me, and it has come out shining in all of them. It's almost like the machine was smiling at me, know it would be able to rise above whatever I tried to put it through without a hitch at all! I love the pretty purple decals on this machine too! I've had some very expensive sewing machines in the past, and I can't believe the low price on this machine! This hardy little machine does just about everything that my specialized expensive sewing machines did, without the super expensive price and intricate settings that you needed to use on those machines. This machine is ready willing and able to do whatever you need it to do, during a normal sewing project. Of course if you need a professional overlock stitch, you should buy the much more expensive overlock machine. But this little gem of a machine will give you a psuedo overlock stitch that I've used for years and it's held up every bit as well in repeated wear and washing/drying of those garments involved in those stitches. I really wish I hadn't held my nose up on the air so high during those years, and would have saved my money and bought a Brother sewing machine instead of paying through the nose for the other way more expensive sewing machines from a company in another country (not naming names here). Let's just say this is one heck of a machine. It does all the stitches that it shows on the front of the machine and also in the instruction books, without hesitating at all, does them with precision and beauty, and then goes right into the next stitch you want to use, with only a 1 minute switch over by turning a few knobs or using a different snap on presser foot. It's truly just as easy as that! And the written instructions, also includes pictures of just about everything it's referring to in each stitch setup section so those of you who are better with pictures to show the way instead of reading the text will find it easy to use as well. From beginner to seasoned sewing professional, I honestly feel that you would adore this machine! And with the insanely low price, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank :) I would recommend this machine to anyone without a minutes' hesitation! You won't be sorry you got it!
I'm in love with this little sewing machine! It's light weight, so it is no problem to move it if the need arises. There are a vast array of stitches and possibilities. Only your imagination will limit the uses! I was especially impressed with the button hole ability. I had not sewn in a long time due to a busy life. The last time I had to make a button hole was on a much older machine, and consisted of a huge attachment, and a lot of frustration (and a mess). The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine (LX2763) makes it a pleasure and a triumph! Just pick out the button you want the hole made for, pop it into the plastic guide, and the machine will size the hole perfectly! And, there is a button foot for sewing the button on! I can now make things without dread of certain steps. There are 6 different 'feet' for a variety of functions. A nice feature is the quick change lever for switching them out. No more having to mess with a little screw wing. The needle practically threads itself, so there's no squinting to thread a needle and a dozen 'misses' before you finally succeed. The door to the bobbin is clear, so, no more sewing for inches or feet before realizing none of your stitches took because you unknowingly ran out of thread. And, they even simplified bringing the bobbin thread up, the machine does it for you! This sewing machine is for my granddaughters. I love giving them craft things to work on. I like this machine so much, I am also going to get one for myself, and put my older one away.
This is a really nice sewing machine. It has a decorative panel on the front, which is nice to see as opposed to most sewing machines that are all white (usually). It comes with a DVD on how to use it, along with the operation manual, a quick reference guide to thread the machine and bobbin. Also included are a few empty bobbins and one that is fully wound with white thread, six different presser feet, an extra spool pin, a darning plate, extra needles and a twin needle, as well as the little screw driver. That’s a lot of extras. There are also other optional accessories, which are listed in the manual. Obviously the machine and power cord with the foot controller are the main pieces. It has 27 built-in stitches. This is a great machine for beginners and experienced sewers alike. It has a built-in handle for carrying. The light isn’t really that bright as far as I’m concerned, but I’m used to the regular bulbs that my old machine has instead of this one, which is like an LED light. It’s very easy to wind a bobbin and this particular model has what I would call a one-step bobbin, as it automatically puts the bobbin thread into the tension spring. It is easy to thread the top thread as well and even without the manual or quick reference guide, the machine is marked with arrows, etc. to show you how it is supposed to be threaded. It also has a one-step buttonhole feature that’s awesome. If your fabric is on the thick side, the presser foot level lifts up to accommodate the extra material. The only thing I had issues with was being able to access the stitches numbered 15 through 27, but after watching the DVD, it was really easy to do. The manual doesn’t explain this process that great, but the DVD is a great tool to have. I don’t care for the “storage” compartment, it is what makes your flat bed for sewing, but the inside for the storage is all open and I would be afraid of everything falling out. I’ve been sewing for many, many years and it just took a little “practice” for me to get used to this machine, as some of the features are in different locations than on my old machine. Through my experience, I have only used Singer and Viking machines. I had never used a Brother Brand machine before, but I highly recommend this sewing machine!
I was very excited to get the Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine, LX2763, there's a few things it has that I'm very pleased with. The first one is it has a automatic threader which is great for me because I don't see to well anymore and trying to thread it is annoying, number 2 is it has a automatic bobbin threader which is a real pain to get it to load right also. I really like that on the machine it self has the settings for the lengths and tension settings so at a glance you can see it. There are 2 built in cutters for the thread, I really like the DVD the step by step instructions help a lot since I have never sew a button hole, lol or even stitched a lot of the patterns they show, but when they show it to you on the DVD looks like I maybe able to do or try anyway. I am a beginner but this machine looks to be all I could need ti get started. Included with the brother sewing machine is, 4 bobbins,3 piece needle set,Twin needle,Oval screwdriver,Extra spool pin and a Darning plate. Looking forward to making dresses for my Granddaughters and maybe some Barbie clothes to. this is worth the money so if your looking for a sewing machine this is a great one.
Overall, this is a really great sewing machine. I will say there are two issues with it, but honestly it just comes with using a sewing machine. Issue 1: The needle comes unthreaded so easily. It becomes a bit frustrating pretty quickly. Issue 2: The bobbin gets jammed easily as well... even though this machine was made to help prevent that from happening. I would give this machine a solid 4 stars though, its perfect for my sewing needs!
The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine, LX2763 is a compact, light weight sewing machine that has a large amount of options for home use and even some advanced sewing accessories allowing you to do quite a lot. The machine is relatively user friendly, but you're going to need a few hours to learn the basics and experiment with all your options. The machine comes with an instructional dvd in various languages for a larger consumer base. I personally, had to go through it a few times as the instructions were not on this particular model, but one similar enough that you will get the gist of use. It also comes with a convenient quick start guide and other short cut materials with graphics showing the individual parts and their use as well as a dual language English/Spanish instruction manual. Lots of accessories and extra needles and bobbins. This machine is the 27 stitch model and has enough choices to make for some really great sewing. The only draw back is that it doesn't come with a cover or protective case. I suggest keeping the original box and plastic covers for storage or sew one to keep the machine dust free and protected. Also a lot of the accessories are plastic and look like they will break with heavy use, so keep that in mind. It comes with a convenient button hole attachment that is easy to install. The instructions on the dvd will walk you through the perfect button hole and button installation. The base has a detachable part making it great for sewing sleeves or pants. The machine is quiet when in use and has a very soft foot pedal making hands free use a breeze. I highly recommend this machine for it's ease of use, great accessories and extras as well as the light weight and compact size. It will do a lot and take up very little space.
