Brother MFC-J775DW Inkjet Multifunction Printer, Color, Plain Paper Print, Desktop

I am a former long time user (20+ years) of another popular, well known, brand of All-In-One inkjet printers ... but finally determined that their reliability was no longer was acceptable...lasting less than two years. I switched to a Brother All-In-One in 2013...and it lasted 5.5 years. When I found this one at Sam's Club, I trusted it because it appeared to be the replacement for the 2013 model. So far, it is operating just like my previous one.

When I read the reviews on this unit every one noted that they received the unit free of charge from Brother. The reviews were for the most part very good, but you have to wonder about reviews when you are given a free copier. However, with that said I have used this unit about 3 weeks now and I am very pleased so far in how it operates and the quality of the copies. Set up was relatively easy and I would guess I spent about 45 minutes total before having all its functionality working. Once it was set up running the machine was quite simple. I like getting an ample supply of ink to begin with and with the cartridges being XL's I think it is going to be a real plus in ink longevity. So far everything has been very positive and I would definitely re-buy this same unit.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. So far this printer has been great. The setup was extremely easy and relatively quick. It comes with a quick-start guide (in addition to a manual) which made the process seamless. It took approximately 15 minutes from box to printing a picture wirelessly from my laptop. It comes with a CD which I did not use as my laptop does not have the capability. I chose the option of downloading the software from the website which was very simple to follow. There is also an app for phones which I have not yet loaded. The lcd screen on the printer is easy to read and understand. The paper tray holds a substantial amount of paper. I have printed color as well as black and white documents and the print quality is very good. The printouts are relatively fast. The printer is a little louder than I expected, but not horrible. The scanning, copying and faxing capabilities are also wonderful options. The size is perfect for my space. It came with up to two years ink which is a major plus. Overall I am extremely pleased with this unit and would definitely recommend to others. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great printer & super easy to set up

My new printer is working flawlessly in every way. The scanning program supplied with the printer is easy to use and to save documents. Print quality is better than expected, and I'm really going to appreciate having that large ink supply.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I participated in a market research study and received this product to evaluate. Upon receiving the printer, I proceeded to put the few pieces together that needed to be done prior to launching into the start up of the machine. The packaging made for a quick removal from the box and all the parts were labeled accordingly. I then read over the "Quick Start" start up guide and began following the step by step guide. Upon installation of the start up disc the printer pretty much did everything on it`s own with me only having to press "next" throughout the set up stages. The printer was done and ready to use in no time, it did not take any longer than 20 minutes and that is typically unusual for me. I proceeded to install the ink cartridges, and paper. Simple. I then wanted to hard wire the printer directly to my computer to test print and this is where I ran into the unusual placement of the USB drive, which was not located on the back or sides of the printer, but rather unusually it was inside the printer placed under the printer/scanner cover. I found this rather awkward and somewhat complicated to work with, as you have to route the wire down the insert made for it to run it out of the machine without having it be blocking one of the printers functions. I truly fell in love with this machine. The amount of printing I did and it`s ability to output over and over again with no need to replace the ink cartridges was AMAZING!! That is what I look for in a good printer and have yet to truly find any like this. It fits most anywhere and takes up little to no space. It is much more compact than my other multi-function printers, as well as much lighter. There were some drawbacks to the this product that could be improved upon to make it one of the best I`ve ever used. First off, the top of the printer that you lift up to place your copying, faxing, or scanning documents on does not have a holder to keep it up while you place your documents, you have to hold it up while doing this, otherwise it will slam down closing and eventually I`m sure, breaking the glass on the scanner. Secondly, the USB port should be on the back or side of the machine, not unassailable and oddly located in the machine. Lastly, some of the pieces on the machine are made with less sturdy plastic then the other parts and those could be upgraded; ex: the printer tray and paper catcher and the fax tray. Overall though I found this to be a wonderful product that I would definitely purchase as well as recommend to others. The amount of ink I use versus the number of times I had to replace the ink cartridges far surpasses any other printer I have ever owned and that is one of my biggest complaints with other brands. I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. Instructions: I received the printer for review. It fit perfectly on my plastic printer stand. It was really easy to put together. I have had a number of printers and they are all similar. A couple of plugs, load the ink and it was ready. I only had to use the printed instruction once, before I connected to my computer. Easy to connect to the Wi-Fi. No issues finding and connecting my computer to the printer. Dislikes: I don`t like the digital screen. It seems outdated to me. It would be nice to have a touchscreen. Also the screen was really small, so I had to constantly scroll down to read any instructions on the screen. Also, navigating the screen was a little confusing. There were a couple of times, I selected the wrong option and needed to go back, but it wouldn`t let me. Took me a minute to figure out what to do from that point. Also, printing was slower than I preferred. I know part of the reason is due to the inkjet, but my previous printer was also an inkjet and it printed much faster. I had to print 19 pages of a document and it took more than 5 minutes on this printer.Likes: I liked the overall appearance of the printer. The size, the color, the option to both scan copies and feed through. I also like the fact that you can close the top, if you aren`t using the feed. The buttons are pretty smooth and easy to touch/operate. Ink is easy to change. Copying: It did copy much faster than it printed. I was impressed with the copy speed as well as the quality of the copy. I had some pages that I`d made notes in pencil on. After copying them, I couldn`t tell which pencil mark was the original and which was the copy. Really good, vibrant copies.Overall this is a good printer. Perfect if you prefer inkjet. Not good if you need to print a lot at one time, because of the print time. Great for a family printer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Very good value with all the features I needed. The only thing I don’t love is the print speed - much slower than I expected

Item: Brother MFC-J775DW Inkjet All In One Wifi PrinterSTORAGE: I participated in a market research study and received the Brother MFC-J775DW Multi-Function Printer to evaluate. I own a home business and currently have a Brother Laser printer and having this color multi-purpose inkjet printer helps my online business tremendously. I currently run my business with multiple mobile devices and having the option to print remotely with wifi adds unsurpassed efficiency and saves me lots of time. ASSEMBLY: Overall, the printer was easy to assemble. It took about 15 minutes to set up the printer. The only difficult part I encountered was in setting up the ink cartridges. The instructions didn`t specify that the caps on the cartridges needed to be twisted entirely until it clicked and I was having trouble removing the caps. After I figured out that I needed to twist until it clicked, removing the caps was easy and everything else set up quickly. The software took 13 minutes to install on my laptop and it took 5 minutes to set up each of my mobile devices to pair with the printer. FUNCTIONALITY: The printer is VERY quiet and the print quality is superb. The printing itself is a bit on the slow side. The printer responds very quickly to start printing from mobile devices. Printing a webpage from a mobile device does not work well on the iPrint&Scan app. The app only allows me to print what shows up on the app screen instead of printing the entire web page. However, printing documents from the iPrint&Scan works prefectly. The scan feature works well with no problem. I was not able to utilize the fax service as I do not have a landline. PROBLEMS: My only major complaint with the printer is the iPrint&Scan app is not user friendly and does not allow me to print entire webpages. Also, the printing time takes a long time and is not conducive for printing large amounts of documents on a tight time constraint. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Tedious interface with wireless devices. But does a good job of printing.
