We've had our single needle for 6 years. We use to have a store in a mall and had a 12 needle machine. I think the single needle machine sews better with less thread breaks than the 12 needle. The single needle is a great choice with excellent results.
The Persona is such a great machine. I already had a flat bed machine but wanted to be able to embroider on things like sleeves, pant legs, tote bags, etc. those are impossible on a flat bed! the persona can do it all, flat and also cylindrical items. The machine is so easy to use, and if you already use a brother embroidery or sewing machine the interface will be familiar so you can get started right away. thread changes are easy since all you do is tie off the new thread to the old and pull through. it is such a good value for all it can do. Highly recommended
I love this machine. Was disappointed that the hat hoop is no longer included with the machine as everything I'd read before purchasing indicated that it was but it is still a fantastic machine. Fits in perfectly to my Brother lineup and now I can really get things done!
I have sewn on brother products for about 40 years now--and I purchased my first embroidery maching (PE770)) about 6 years ago. I use my machines daily and was was planing to update to the DreamMaker. BUT the minute I received the e-mail about the new free arm PRS100 -----I purchased immediately. I am still sewing daily--but with the SPM on this machine I can accomplish many more projects in less time. Of course with the larger hoop sized--I can now stitch larger items which make me extremely happy. I have been very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this machine to anyone looking for an embroidery machine. I did pass my PE770 down to my sister. She now has the embroidery bug and is starting to ask me questions about the PE100 (she will pass the PE770 down to my granddaughter as want to keep it in the family).
I had been using a very basic embroidery machine and knew I wanted a bigger and better one but didn't want yo pay thru the nose. This machine fit the bill perfectly. It is doing all that I want or need right now but I should have taken the class to learn all that it could do and how to do it.
The next to the last hole for threading this machine is in a dark blue. It should be white, with a light there. I have to hold a flashlight in my mouth to see that hole in order to insert the thread there. The largest frame is not big enough for as big as this machine is. I regret buying this machine and wished I had bought a more portable machine!
I'm really not too impressed with this machine. I have the dream machine and it is so smooth.. This persona is too temperamental.. The constant need to reoil it or it telling you to recheck your thread. I wish I would have paid more attention when I 1st got it because I would have returned it..
This is a good machine for doing the small projects and tight fitting items like gloves, socks. But it did come with the Hat hoop so that is a plus. The 2 only parts I do not like is the threading in the front of the machine is a dark blue and it is hard to see the hole for threading and secondly the hat placement the LED light goes away.
I am finding that the needle threader is horrible. It is easier to thread the needle than fool with it. I am finding that you better have it in a well lit room, as there is only one light on this machine and it is right at the needle. It is not easy to get the hat straight or tell if it is straight on the hat attachment. I didn't have any problems with the centering. Maybe I just need to play with it more. It was easier doing hats on my 6200 dream weaver than using this. For the money, I really don't believe that it is worth it. I feel that it should have come with a medium size frame also. It is like having a big heavy white elephant in my sewing room. I hate to think about ever having to take it to get serviced.
i got this machine to specifically do hats... Maybe 4 have come out perfect, and the other 50 have all been a mess. It continues to keep getting worse! It will do most of the hat good and then it will only start showing the bobbin thread instead of the color thread. I have tried all the trouble shooting and have been struggling with this machine for several weeks! not worth the price tag!
