I bought this brother scan and cut mainly for fussy cutting. It works great! It is very easy to use! I have watched many YouTube videos on how to use this machine and when I started using it to cut my base cards, mats, and patterned papers (for greeting cards) so I didn't have to, I was so excited! I have a Cricut machine, and after I started using my new brother scan and cut, I don't need my Cricut anymore.
works great, exactly as I expected.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product, the ScanNCut SDX85S, for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of it, and I'm so happy to share it, because my daughter and I are having SO much fun with it! Its almost endless possibilities for creativity is such a bright spot for us during this crazy and (seemingly endless) time spent indoors. This was easy to set up and hook up to my cellphone. We've been making a lot of cute stickers and cards, and we're planning to make some vinyl transfers to iron on t-shirts this weekend. Seriously, I feel like we'll be learning and discovering new features and ways to use all of the included fun designs for a good long time! I highly recommend this - it's awesome!
The machine does what it says. I purchased it to cut out wallet patterns as that seems to be something that truly interests me. The only downfall i can see is the blade gets blunt very quickly. I don't think i make that many wallets for it to get blunt so fast, but I've replaced them like 10 different times since my purchase. I do cut faux leather & cork.
I just received my SDX125E and learning what it will do. I had a SDX85 but it was delivered damage . So now starting over. I plan to use the new SDX125E in my quilting and applique. The SDX125E will actually preform what I have been wanting to do, scan applique patterns and convert to embroidery files. Brother Canvas will help me accomplish this conversion.
I'm using it for card making. On the bad side is you don't include a manual. Now how silly is that I would think at the cost of the machine you would.
A User Manual would be extremely helpful. I already own an older model of Scan n Cut, so I'm not inexperienced. Still, the new model is different and I can not get it to cut what I need. I'm sure the answers to my questions are out there and I will find them when I have the time and patience to search for them. It would just be so much easier if the instructions were easily available.
I would have gave it 5 stars but why do we need to buy a card to activate wi fi. It is all ready there. I didn't need to buy a card to activate the wi fi on my cell phone my lap top or any else. I know why to get more money.
So I really wanted to love this, but honestly I don't. It's really not much better than my silhouette. I bought the t to make it easy to cut out letters and stuff for my classroom after I have either printed it or laminated it. Sometimes it didn't even seem to scan it correctly, other times the mat wasn't sticky enough ( it's brand new). The ease of use wasn't as easy as I expected. The app or software is terrible (could be my lack of knowledge with the program) but I am pretty tech savvy. Overall just disappointed I paid so much for it.
I absolutely HATE this machine! I wish I had not spent my money on it. It is difficult to use, difficult to connect to the internet, difficult to understand. When it works it makes a nice cut, but those times are far and few between. My daughter and I are both disappointed in it. I let her take it home to figure out and she hates it as much as I do. Brother and wireless do not work well together. Again- I HATE THIS MACHINE (and my brother embroidery machine). I will NEVER buy another Brother product.
