Love this machine. I had a VERY old Brother Embroidery machine that has reached the point where it can't be repaired anymore and the old software is becoming more obsolete by the day. The old machine still works, but there is so much it can't do. I have been wanting an upgrade for a long time and was finally able to save enough to buy this one. It's not the latest model, but it is light years away from my old one plus I now have a 5x7" space to embroidery which is a big improvement. All of the bells and whistles, the color screen are amazing. The ability to use a USB port for transferring patterns to and from my computer is so much easier than the old embroidery card. My only complaint is the threading is not as easy as the pop-in cassette threader on my old machine. The automatic needle threader has been hit or miss for me so I mostly just thread it by hand because I can do it faster and waste less thread that way. I love the little box to hold all of the feet and other accessories. I would recommend this machine to anyone like me who is a casual embroider and needs an upgrade but doesn't need one of the fancier more expensive machines.
I've only used it once so far. It seems to work great and I'm sure it will last me for many years.
just figuring everything out but so far good. my prior machine was brothers so I like brothers
The fabric quality is not very good and it tends to pill.
I purchased this sewing and embroidery machine to replace an older machine. Thrilled to have bought it. The machine sold out quickly. Have the basic operating techniques down, and use the directions when necessary. So quiet to sew with. It has a self winding bobbin, over 135 types of stitches to sew/decorate with. The lighting is really bright. I am able to use my older 4x4 hoop as well as the 5x7 hoop that comes with the machine. Registered the machine on the makers website to gain useful support. Great investment.
I am enjoying my new machine, so far. It runs quiet and very smoothly. I haven't tried the embroidery unit yet. Wal-Mart promised I would receive it in 2 days and I did! Wonderful service!
This machine is absolutely a dream. I had the SE425 before and it was a workhorse too. I upgraded for the bigger hoop and overall bigger throat size for quilting. And to get my mother into sewing and quilting I gave her the old one! The stitching is amazing and I absolutely love how smooth and flawless it is. I am confident this machine will last for quite a while and will become my travel machine when I one day (a gal can dream) get my Luminaire.
This machine doesn't leave you guessing about anything. it guides you all the way. The needle threader, same as on other machines, is weak and breaks easily. Make sure you use the correct thread sizes.
Pros: smart, easy to learn, powerfull. Cons: This machne has horrible winding bobbin mechanism. I have to use my ither sewing singer machine to prepare my bobbins for embroydery. This machine has NO COMPATIBLE snap on magnet hoops of any brand on market, wich is really stupid. Those 2 problems make ne think,i would buy other machibe if i would know it before i got it.
Only had this machine since February and it has broken five needles and the pressure foot release bar is no longer functioning properly
