Amazing sewing

KatyM November 8, 2018

The Brother SE600 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine is a sewing dream - the expanded workspace was the first thing that stuck out to me, I really prefer having a larger work area for the fabric to rest on, it helps me keep my lines straighter and have more control over the fabric. The multiple different sewing feet that come with it are fantastic, it includes pretty much any accessory you need for most sewing projects (way easier than trying to track down accessories that fit your machine later on). Now let's talk about the embroidery features. It can look like a lot to learn, but honestly, it's so easy to use. You just program it and go. Plus, if you don't like any of the designs already on the machine, you can upload your own and edit it! So good for thoughtful gifts, spicing up old clothing, or just messing around. Overall, I highly recommend this machine. I am writing this review as part of a contest.

Couldn't Be Happier With This SE600!

SlobCityLivin November 8, 2018

I gave this machine to my mom for Christmas last year to replace her ancient Singer. We did a lot of shopping around and eventually landed on this SE600 because it was the best of both worlds - advanced sewing (100+ stitches) and intro embroidery (80 built-in designs). Mom is a totally competent sewer, but since this machine she's been able to try some trickier techniques and fabrics. Even if her old machine was able to do it, she seems to be more confident with this one. Also, the ease of use is pretty astonishing. Since it's largely digital, there's definitely a learning curve, but Mom has been able to follow along with the step-by-step manual and eventually know the core processes by heart. Embroidery is totally new to us, and of course our imaginations ran away with us we considered a Bernina for .05 seconds. The price point on this Brother is a ridiculous value for what you're able to create. I bought a cheap multi-pack of embroidery thread and have had so much fun. As a first try, I embroidered my dad's name on a couple cheap handkerchiefs and they came out so great that I gave them to him as a gift! And while the 80 included designs are kind of amazing, I was ecstatic to learn that I could load other designs into the machine. There are amazing libraries of designs online that have thousands of designs (loads are free but some are ~$2 which I think is no big deal since you own the design forever). The photos attached are from two designs I bought and embroidered on my nephew's t-shirts. So fun! I've done them in other colors for adult bandannas and they're always hits. We've used this machine for all sorts of things - teaching myself sewing basics, watching mom sew a tulle owl Halloween costume, embroidering napkins for the Christmas table, and simply replacing buttons on shirts, sweaters, and pants. Such a huge fan! When I was first shopping I almost talked myself into a more expensive machine, but I am so pleased with this and honestly I can't see us outgrowing it anytime soon. Highly recommend!!

Brother SE600 is a high quality, versatile machine

awell13 November 8, 2018

The Brother SE600 goes above and beyond with its features. I was originally intimidated with using a computerized machine (I've only used my mom's one from 1970 before) and I was surprised at how easy and intuitive this machine is. The large LCD touch screen makes selecting your designs easy and quick, and the 4x4 hoop is extremely easy to assemble and place your fabric on. The ability to upload new designs through a USB stick is amazing--I can't wait to create new monograms! The expanded 6.4 w x 4.1 h needle-to-arm workspace will allow me to work with bulkier fabrics as well that I couldn't do with my old machine. Very good quality and highly recommend! Great Value, Easy to use, big selection of designs

Diane November 8, 2018

Summary: This Brother SE600 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine with Color LCD display, 80 Embroidery Designs has incredible embroidery and stitching features, is a great price point for all the features, and can be used by beginners and professionals. This Brother SE600 Computerized Sewing Machine is amazing! It is a 2 in 1 sewing and embroidery machine, so at this price point, I think it's a great value and very compact. I'm not crafty at all and I was able to make a bag using this machine, so you will definitely be able to use it! Features that I think are important to call out: 1. The LCD touch screen display - It lets you position the embroidery design with you finger, and you can also change the color, preview the design, edit the design, watch tutorials, and so much more! There are 80 built in designs, 6 fonts, and 1000s of designs on iBroidery.com that come in through a USB stick (not included). The title doesn't mention that it's a touch screen display, so that's just an added bonus. The touch screen is very intuitive and easy to use, though it comes with a manual. 2. Another amazing feature besides the fact that you can embroider almost anything is the self-threading needle. I have no idea how to thread a needle and always need someone else to do it, so the fact that the Brother SE600 Computerized Sewing Machine has this makes it so much easier for beginners (and anyone!). There's also a thread cutter. 3. Stitch selections – In the past, I've worked on a machine where I could only stitch in straight lines but this machine has dozens of pre-loaded stitches that are very fun and cover every occasion. Also tons of buttonhole stitches! 4. Attachments – There are attachments you can buy for this machine if you plan to use this for more advanced functions, like a larger embroidery hoop. 5. Well made – The Brother SE600 Computerized Sewing Machine is a well made machine that is durable and will be able to work for a variety of fabric and purposes. However, for a 2-in-1 sewing and embroidery machine, this is a great value. Of course, there are lower priced options available but for the added technology, I thought the investment was worth it. There are also machines that are $1,000+, so I think this is within a reasonable range. I saw online that a few Etsy shops are using this machine, so you can definitely use it for “professional” purposes as well! For those of you excited to try out this machine, don't forget to order everything else you need like backing, fabric, adhesive spray, etc! I personally would use this to personalize small things like towels, bags, etc. I think it may be too small to easily sew a quilt though I've seen people do it before. This product is amazing and a huge upgrade from the sewing machines that I've used in the past. I think the Brother SE600 Computerized Sewing Machine is a great machine for both beginners and advanced sewers, and is super easy to use. You switch between sewing and embroidering by changing out the foot and the base. A few things to note, though it didn't bother me was that the embroidery area is 4x4 and can't be made larger, so if you want to embroider something really large, this is not the machine. NOTE: I am writing this review as part of a contest.

What a great machine!

RhondaM October 3, 2020

What a great machine! So far I've really only used it as a sewing machine, as there are several things I am altering. I find it to be very smooth, relatively quiet, and it hasn't jammed on me once (I had not done any sewing in decades, and my memories from any sewing I did back then include a lot of clearing away thread jams in my old machine!). There is lots to learn with this puppy, but there are tons of tutorials on YouTube (everything from opening the box onwards) if you're not keen on labouring through the written manual, but honestly a lot of it is pretty intuitive if you play around with it. Also, all of the basics (like threading the bobbin and needle, changing the needle or foot, etc.) are right there on the machine, with helpful picture screens you can scroll through, so you can get up and running pretty quickly. I can also tell that the embroidery function is going to be lots of fun (I did one quick test monogram, and it worked like a charm). I was so happy Walmart got this SE600 back in stock (at least long enough for me to snag one!), since it's been sold out everywhere during the pandemic, as have most affordable sewing machines. Also, Walmart's price is BY FAR the best for this sewing machine, it retails for a minimum of $100 more everywhere else. Thank-you, Walmart!

The Sewing Machine of My Dreams, by Brother!!

Lina November 7, 2018

The Brother SE600 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine is the modern sewing machine that I have been waiting for. I have always loved fashion and creating my own clothes and with this Brother Sewing machine, I have the dual capabilities of sewing and embroidery to add elegant patterns to elevate my designs to the next level. You can create your own embroidery designs or select one from the 80 designs preset with the machine. Which leads me to my other love of this product... THE TECHNOLOGY! Featuring a Color LCD display, I am able to preview my designs on the screen before deciding on them. The machine is easy to use and versatile, allowing me to sew at a variety of speeds, stitch types and accommodate bulkier fabrics. I have even used this machine to teach friends new to sewing and they have found it to be the perfect machine to learn the techniques to fulfill your greatest creative dreams. I absolutely love this Brother sewing and embroidery machine and recommend it to novice and experienced designers alike. For the price, it is an amazing, high-value machine!! It sews like no other! Enthusiastic future embroiderer

brybry November 8, 2018

The Brother SE600 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine with Color LCD display, 80 Embroidery Designs machine is amazing! I've never embroidered something before and it was quick and easy. You load the fabric, select your design, and you're off! A simple initial on a towel or a handkerchief makes an excellent stocking stuffer, and takes less than 10 minutes. Additionally, I really enjoyed the display screen. It was super intuitive, and very modern! Found it really great that the machine tracked where the thread was on the fabric, and gave time updates as to how long the stitching would take. Simple to load, simple to remove. Who knew so much simplicity would lead to such creativity? I am writing this review as part of a contest.

Great Brother machine for sewing and embroidery!

joycez November 11, 2018

Let me first say that I am highly impressed! I have been sewing since I took textiles classes in high school and have been looking for an upgrade to my beginners sewing machine I bought 8 years ago. I am so glad I found this 2 in 1 computerized sewing and embroidery machine :D. This Brother SE600 is great for any skill level as you have 103 stitch options for your basic to advanced sewing needs in addition to 80 built in simple to elaborate embroidery designs for you to get creative with. Some of the designs include snowflakes, Christmas trees, floral designs, fancy lettering, etc. I recently embroidered a J to personalize my hand towel (check out the pictures attached)! It is not hard to set up the machine for embroidering (once I switched to the embroidery arm and embroidery foot, and then pressed the start button, this beautiful J was done in less than 4 minutes!!! One thing I really like about this machine is that you are not limited to the 80 built in embroidery designs. It comes with an USB port where you can import as many designs as you want, from ones you can purchase for a buck or two to your own embroidery designs! You just have to make sure your design files are in .pes format :). Pros: - You can control your sewing and embroidering speed (3 settings) - Machine does most of the work! There is a start and stop button so the machine does the sewing and embroidery itself with the press of a button. - Easy to feed the fabric - Large enough needle to arm workspace for bulkier projects (e.g. quilts) - Comes with 7 sewing feet (for sewing zippers, buttons, monogramming, overcasting, etc.) - Select, edit, and preview your designs in color on the LCD touch screen before the machine actually starts embroidering - There is also a built-in color palette to match the threads you are using so that you can see how your designs will actually look :) - Automatic needle threader…omg saves me so much time and frustration from trying to manually push the thread through the tiny needle hole! This feature is great for preventing eye strain too! - Beautiful embroidery designs (note: ideal for smaller embroidery projects as the embroidery area is 4 x 4) Cons: - Does not include an USB stick (the only thing I wish could have been included, but definitely not a dealbreaker as this beautiful and high quality machine is already an unbelievable price for so many useful and creative features). Overall, would recommend this Brother SE600 for anyone looking to find an affordable sewing and embroidery machine from a good brand that will last a long time. My beginners sewing machine is from Brother (still works after 8 years and multiple dresses and pillows I have made) and the sewing machines from my high school textile classes were from Brother too. I am glad that a brand I trust decided to make this timeless 2 in 1 machine. Awesome value and quality for a great price! Note: I wrote this review as part of a contest.

Not worth it

Rachel January 24, 2021

Never worked, even right out of the box. Don't waste your money on this. Tension was atrocious and thread actually wound around the bottom of the plate while trying to embroider on first use. It's not Brother's fault - since this machine is sold through the third party it is a different product than if you bought straight from a Brother dealer. Save some time and go directly to a Brother certified dealer.
