Brother SE625 Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine with LCD

First of all I’d like to say that I’m totally in love with this machine. This has it all...a sewing machine and an embroidery machine all rolled into one. Brother produced a winner. I don’t read instructions. Nope, don’t need them. I didn’t have embroidery thread. Who cares? So I used thread that came in a cheap sewing kit. I followed the prompts from the LED screen and was soon watching embroidery happen. The first pic that looks like embroidery is actually the bobbin color tangling and showing on the top side. The red light came on telling me that something was wrong. You can see the red button in the second picture. It won’t go off until you fix the problem. So I read the troubleshooting section. Using the wrong thread could create a huge problem. Oh. So I took off the embroidery attachment, changed the needle, and intended to change the presser foot. In the second picture you see all of presser feet that can’t be attached because I took off something I wasn’t supposed to. That red light wasn’t going off any time soon. You can read all of the specs and how easy it is IF you read the directions. The safety features are great. The LED screen is your best friend. This machine does what it was created to do. It’s beautiful. Even if you start with the troubleshooting section and work backwards. It gets a well-deserved 5 stars.

I have been using this machine for a few weeks now. It is an amazing piece of equipment. So far I have done a number of embroideries of towels and other clothe items. I couldn't be happier with the very easy to use interface. As someone who would consider themselves a novice in sewing this machine has made it very easy for me to hop right in and get started! Highly recommend!

I have been sewing and quilting for 50+ years but when I saw this Embroidery machine I jumped in with both feet. I have never tried it before but I was anxious to learn. This Brother machine is perfect for beginners and experts alike. I didn't find it difficult at all to get started The Sewing side is a dream to work with. I like that I can add fancy borders to my projects with the designs that are already in the machine. It even did well with heavier fabrics. The Embroidery side is fantastic I am including a photo of my practice pieces I have made so far and I only have had the machine less than a week. I recommend you READ the manual and watch Youtube videos to learn the basics and find out what you need for supplies to get the best results. The hoop is a 4 in x 4 in but it is perfect for doing all kinds of things. You are only limited by your imagination. I plan to make some Pillow Case sets and Dish towels for Christmas gifts The machine comes with some designs already programed into the machine and also a CD with 200 more Designs and Fonts to choose from. You just pick a design on the CD and upload to a flash stick. Put the flash stick into the USB port on the sewing machine and go! There are also lots of free designs and pay for designs on the Brother website..Brother has the exclusive rights on the Disney and others designs..I would NOT recommend saving the designs on your sewing machine because like any other computerized item you only have so much memory and it will slow down you sewing. The best advice I can give you is join some facebook groups for Embroidery I have found them to be helpful and as I learn I may start one just for those of us on 4x4 hoops with tips and helpful hints. I promise you after you watch your machine create your first design you will become addicted.

I received a Brother Model SE625 Computerized Embroidery & Sewing Machine (white housing). It is a little heavy - I have to use both hands to carry it by the handle on top. It is well designed with an ergonomic set back and slanting angle that makes sewing very comfortable and enjoyable. It is easy to see and read the various sewing machine features I want to select. I am easily able to get my head and hands right into the actual sewing area. The machine is a perfectly balanced triangular shape with the bottom being about twice as wide as the top. The feed dog and needle position are at the back edge of the base which helps create a get-in-close sewing work area and also lets material fall off the back edge without the fabric bunching up. The sewing work area's bright LED light makes it easy to see what I'm doing. The instructions for the steps to do the upper and bobbin threading are on the machine (They are numbered.) There is also an excellent Quick Reference Guide and Operation Manual that cover everything. There is a free arm for sewing cuffs and sleeves. An off/on button that stops and starts sewing is the easy alternative to the foot pedal option. The bobbin winder makes quick work of preparing more bobbins. (Several pre-wound bobbins are included.) There is one specialty foot each for buttonholes, zigzag stitching, monogramming, overcasting (aka overlock), zipper, blind stitch, and embroidery. The large LCD display shows my selected stitches, functions, instructions and operations such as reverse or sewing speed control. (There are 103 built-in stitches that include straight, zig-zag, quilting, embroidery and decorative with another 200 of embroidery that are on an included CD.) The embroidery unit comes with the necessary accessories. I can machine embroider up to a 4 inch by 4 inch area on fabric stretched onto the frame (included). The unit itself inserts into the machine's sewing work area securely with a two prong connector after I change out the free arm set up. The machine also has a USB port. By inserting a USB flash drive, I can save stitches or embroidery patterns. The SE625 arrived set in molded packing styrofoam inside a reusable, sturdy, thick gauge cardboard carton which kept everything in place while it was being shipped to me. A styrofoam tray set inside on top held the accessories. (I received all of them.) I will definitely hold onto the carton as suggested. The Brother SE625 is really a hub or a sewing center for me. It has features that seem to show input from sewers might have been sought during its design. This is a dream machine - It has so many advanced features - It's as if they consulted me personally and asked what I would like.

What a great machine, besides a sewing machine it will also embroidery. It has 6 built in embroidery lettering fonts and 103 built in stitches. It also comes with a CD with 200 embroidery designs and you can save your own designs on a memory stick and download over a 1000 designs from iEmbroidery.com. You can also purchase many optional accessories to help you out with about any sewing project you can think of. Sure it doesn't have multiple spindles for a multitude of colors but it only takes a few minutes to change out 1 color for another. If you want to sew just change out the foot and change out the arm and you're ready to sew. It comes with a great instruction manual, multiple feet for sewing, embroidery, button holes and the tools you need for basic maintenance. One thing you won't find is sewing machine oil because it doesn't require any, just keep it clean and it should give you years of service. The machine has a race track design with corresponding numbers so you know which way you run the thread and it has an advanced needle threader so you don't have to put your magnifying glasses on or lick the thread. The bobbin winder was easy to use as was the on screen instructions and the color LCD screen. The LED light works okay but with that technology I wish they would have added a couple more. It wouldn't pick up the bobbin thread like I thought it should but a little more reading and I figured it out. When I embroidered a couple of letters it missed a couple of spots and it broke the needle when the thread got stuck in the material, but as soon as it did it tells you something is wrong and what to look for. All in all this is going to be 1 fun and very useful machine for seamstresses and quilter's alike.

If that isn't enough it also gives you 6 built in fonts, 103 built in sewing stitches along with 10 styles of auto-size button holes. It can be a little overwhelming, however, the operators manual is broken down very nicely in simple fashion. The machine actually has diagrams and numbers on it which corresponds to the manual as well as the LED read out instructions right from the machine. Yes, there will be a learning curve. As in the picture I have provided this is a "HUGH" step up from the machine I was using. I want to assure you that the basic skills that I learned and applied from my grandmothers' machine will carry over to this Brother SE625 machine and you too will carry over your skills. The only intangible thing that this new machine can't do is replace the sentimental feeling of learning and being with my grandmother as she taught me to sew. Once again, please read the instructions for the machine before beginning your project.Many of the parts are plastic which could easily be broken. There are many accesories which come with the machine to compliment the use of the machine. I find it exciting as I "play" with the various settings but continue to refer back to the manual until it becomes second nature. Be patient and you too should have many hours of enjoyable time creating wonderful functional and artisic sewn items.

I selected this product as I have always been interested in learning to embroider. I will have to admit that when I first looked at it I was a little intimidated. The operation Manual has 88 pages of instructions. There is also an embroidery design guide and a Quick start booklet. However, after I started reading the material I find that is very specific and well written. There are many pictures and diagrams, so you can follow along easily. Since I have used a sewing machine before many of the instructions were very familiar. Since I have not embroidered before, I will have to practice using the machine a little bit more for that purpose. There are 80 designs built into the machine and a CD with another 200. There are 6 built-in fonts as well as many garment stitches since you can you the machine without the embroidery attachment. The embroidery attachment has a large work area and the work area is brightly lit. The LCD color touch screen is approximately 3 1/4" x almost 2" which seems small, but it is very clear and easy to see and read. There are instructions included on the screen as well. I like the wide foot petal and how the speed control works. Overall the machine is very well made and seems to be built to last many years

It took about an hour to set up our Brother SE625 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine with Color LCD display, 280 Total Embroidery Designs. The mistake is we were trying to use the quick start and the regular detail is much better at explaining and showing everything. One of the best features for the Brother SE625 Combination Computerized Sewing and 4x4 Embroidery Machine with Color LCD display, 280 Total Embroidery Designs compared to the one just down is you do not have to hook your computer to the sewing machine. The Brother SE625 comes with a USB port so you put your design on a USB drive and plug it in. The self threading of the needle on the Brother SE625 works like a charm. The color display on the Brother SE625 has a sharp bright image. I have never used an embroidery machine before this one - always dreamed of what I could do with one, but never got to play with it before. Well packaged, easy to unpack. User manual very helpful with lots of diagrams. I'm not a novice seamstress, I've done some quilting and made clothing before, so I feel very comfortable with a basic sewing machine, but this one is really a joy to use. The digital touch screen it easy to use - especially as you follow the instruction book. The machine threads the needle - I've never had one that does that before and it works consistently - not a small thing when your eyes are aging. I did use it to stitch the beginning of a new quilting project. The stitching is beautifully even, and it's so easy to adjust thread tension etc. The biggest thing I had trouble figuring out why I couldn't get it to wind my bobbin - but it won't wind unless you unplug the foot pedal - a safety feature for sure. Then I got to the fun of trying out the embroidery function. The pictures that come loaded on the machine are fairly basic - mostly letters and a few floral designs. I chose to start out with the first initial of my last name to add to the corner square on a quilt. What fun to adjust the machine, get it all set up with a few presses of the touch screen, the place the fabric in the included embroidery frame and simply press the start button (foot pedal unplugged again) and watch the magic happen - my kids where all watching breathlessly! Even my husband came over to watch. I could already see the wheels turning in all their heads - what new projects they will dream up for me I am sure.
