Brother Serger Electric Sewing Machine 1034D Heavy-Duty Metal Frame

I really love this serger!! It is easy to use and to thread. I also own another serger that cost a few thousand, which is currently getting repaired. I purchased this one just to use while my other one is being repaired. I like this one so much, that I may get a second one!! Sews like a dream through thick and thin fabrics, and uses standard sewing machine needles.

It runs smooth and it's easy to thread. I'm having a lot of fun using my serger. Thanks CT.

I bought this serger over 10 years ago, and out of fear it's been hiding in my closet! I finally took it out last month and watched instructional videos online. To my surprise I had very little difficulty threading the serger! Not only is it easy but super fun. I love making flannel pjs and with the serger it's so fast. I'm serging a cute knit dress right now. The Brother 1034D is fun, easy, fast, and makes your sewing look professional. Don't hesitate to purchase it. I'm 58 and if I can do it, anyone can! I loved it so much I bought the Brother Coverstitch machine too—for professional knit hems!

This is my first serger to ever use. I have a very basic Brother sewing machine that has been wonderful so I decided to stick with Brother products. After seeing all of the wonderful reviews here on this product, I jumped in. It sat in the box for about a week since I didn't really have a place to put it (and honestly I was a bit intimidated). I finally got it out and began playing with basic serging and the gathering foot using the thread that came preloaded. I played so much that one of the spools actually ran out!! So I HAD to learn to thread it. After watching the included CDs and looking over the manual, I did it! I've had it for about 2 weeks now and have rethreaded 4 or 5 times (to change colors) and can now do it without looking at the manual! I love the gathering foot and capabilities as it saves me SOOO much time when sewing clothing for my daughter. The rolled edge hem is also a quick and beautiful way to finish edges of ruffles! I am so happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone! I've included a pic of a ruffle on jeans that was finished on the bottom with a rolled edge hem and gathered with my serger.

I enjoy making children's clothing and everyone has complimented me on the professional look of each outfit. This machine has become an important staple in my sewing room!

I did not have any previous experience operating a serger and had many questions and concerns; I was totally a BEGINNER. However, after watching a few you tube videos and doing some research, I made the life changing decision to purchase this specific model. Needless to say, I am NOT dissapointed. This model is EASY to thread , user friendly, fast and efficient. I've been able to create clothing, home decor projects, and beautiful accessories in little to no time using this model. It's a workhorse and in my opinion the best serger on the market!

“I am posting this review as part of my entry in Walmart's Fall Sewing Contest.” This was my very first serger and I have nothing but love for it. It has taken my sewing to a new level, giving me perfectly finished seams. The price and reliability are amazing. It is the easiest machine to thread, with color coded instructions. I recommend checking youtube for tutorials on how to get the most out of your machine. I used it to finish the hem of a circle skirt using the rolled hem feature and it was perfect!

The serger was shipped upside down in the Walmart box that clearly had "this end up" markers. This made the pre-threading a bit of a moot point as there was much tangling. I was able to work it out and there doesn't appear to be any damage to the machine itself. From preliminary testing, the serger seems to be running fine. I'm excited to have the machine!

After reading hundreds of reviews about this machine, I knew I would be happy with it. I make washable furniture slipcovers and have to use a serger for all of the inside seams. After months of fighting with my old serger, and constantly re-threading it, I decided to buy a new one. I borrowed my neighbors Brother Serger to finish a project and really liked it. Now that I have my own... life's good again! I love the lower looper's easy threading! I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants to have worry free serging.

I was so excited for this serger to arrive as it was delayed twice. I had a headache yesterday when it finally came so opened box tonight. Why are the spools of thread all knotted up inside the box and running through or under the serger? The silver knob on top looks to be leaning to the side- not sure if that's right or not. Either way, I didn't even lift it out the box once I saw that. So disappointed, I will be returning this mess to Walmart asap!!
