Brother SM3701 37-Stitch Lightweight Portable Full-Size Sewing Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I was both excited and intimidated to start sewing at 40 but it's something I really have been wanting to do and learn for some DIY home decor! Upon pulling out the product there's instructions and a bag of “parts” and I just let it sit for a week thinking ILL NEVER FIGURE THIS OUT! I've yet to read the instructions BUT THANK GOD FOR THERE INSTRUCTIONAL DVD! I followed along STEP BY STEP with the DVD and I could not believe how simple it was (again with the help of the DVD)! The instructions ALONG with the visual of what to do mad with fool proof FOR SURE! I had to purchase so thread and fabric (which is super cheap so if your learning and waste some you won't feel guilty) and began practicing. After I felt a bit confident with the settings I made some basic curtains for my balcony for privacy. Now they are by no means perfect and I have to practice with straight lines, get some pins and search more on some good ideas, BUT THIS MACHINE is REALLY REALLY good! Between the manual, DVD and images on the machine it's perfect for a beginner or a pro! There's really nothing they missed on making this, it threads the needle for you so if you have a shaky hand, no worries! The built in light by the needle makes your work pretty precise and the stitch guide shows you exactly what you need for your preferences. I'm very excited to make curtains, accent blankets for my bed, throw pillows for the living room and so much more! If you've waited because your not confident and seeing seems like more work than fun GRAB THIS! I promise you'll be using old shirts to create things because you want to sew “so” bad!

It was a gift for my wife as she loves to sew, but didn't have a machine so.... It easy to set up yet has everything you need and more for a first time owner, she loves it, and so do I!

The perfect gift that is being used regularly by my wife. I made this comment of the Singer case but it belongs here. She was able to make almost 200 face masks for family, friends, and healthcare workers.

LOVE this machine. I have only had it for 2 years and I have made countless projects. It's perfect for a home machine. I feel like I have gone around the world twice with this machine....with no problems! I have made wallets, bags, quilts, shirts, decorations, etc.

As a first time sewer; it has been great and using it I've learned a lot. Perfect!

It is a very good machine for the price, handles very well and is light weight to transport to different places.

I bought this sewing machine as a birthday gift for my sister. It was perfect for her needs. It is light, easy to use and she loves the self threading feature. And, as a bonus, it's so pretty!!

This sewing machine is easy to thread, adjust stitch width and length. It sews an accurate 1/4 inch which is seam allowance for quilt block construction. The 1/4 inch presser foot is not included with the basic accessories. It requires an optional purchase. I was able to move the needle over and placed some blue painters tape (which won't leave any residue when removed) to allow for accurate 1/4 inch seams. I am excited to use the various stitches for appliqué and decoration on garments.

Did not receive this product because it was never delivered to my house. I had to buy another one because it was my mother's Christmas present. i was already stressed about getting everything done for the holidays and working a full time job as a nurse, and then it was like pulling teeth to get a refund . Sent multiple emails / customer service texts and finally got a refund . the sad part is i live 3 miles from the Walmart and order from them constantly. I just work 12 hour shifts and can never get out on time to go to the store myself, so what do you do...order on line...So to be honest i ended up buying my mom a different sewing machine because i didn't trust walmart to get it to me a second time and didn't want to go thru the hassle of multiple messages !! So i have no idea it this machine was any good...I am just so annoyed that i had to waste so.much time to get refunded ...Walmart work on your customer service!!! Especially customers that utilize your services and pay all their bills on time ...

I am a singer machine sewer. this machine doesn't have good directions, YouTube videos are hard to follow. when you can't even thread the machine, it's a ptoblem
