Great antenna for the money
I'm a professional radio technician and an ham radio operator so I know quite a bit about antennas. I was looking for an NMO mount CB antenna for my car so it could be used interchangeably on an NMO body mount. This antenna seems well made and has a rubber O-ring on the base to seal it. I was able to tune to 1.5:1 SWR by trimming the whip per the cutting chart. It seems to be pretty efficient.

very fine antena
very easy to install. cut stinger to length they recommended for frequency i was using and it tuned to 1.2 swr thru the whole band.

WORKS AS ADVERTISED
Nothing unexpected about this antenna. Put analyzer on it and it tunes just as the chart indicates. That's what I want. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought it to use with a Tran 1465 Land Mobile Base Ground Plane that has a cmos mount on its top. The browning BR-140 is made to mount cmos and not the standard 3/8 mount like most antennas. It does not come with a mount to connect to you coex.

Perfect
My Br 140 is mounted on top of Comet's CP-5NMO trunk mount and tied into my tuned/aligned Cobra 25 LTD. My estimated range is 3-6 miles on a good day with fairly level terrain. The CB shop suggested this BR 140, specifically for any trunk mount applications. He's been in the business of selling and repairing radios since 1975. He likes the shunt fed impedance matching on the BR 140 with consistent 50 ohm load for trunk mounting applications. Stated our State Patrol and other gov't agencies use the same antenna as some other states too.

It works great but at 70mph it looks like it will break off. It's been on my car for over 1 year without any issues.
