I have been struggling to figure out an easy way to get rid of buckthorn for years. The Brush Grubber is the answer that I was looking for. It works effortlessly for removing buckthorn, roots and all. On the smaller trees the teeth slide over the bark and won't grab so be sure to get the right size for your needs.I have both the 2" and the 1" remover. It is much faster with two people otherwise you spend time putting down and picking up the grubber while you remove the tree from the teeth. The ground by me has been wet so that helps get the roots out easier but I couldn't be much happier with this product.
Downside was that because it was pretty heavy box it came in was kind of beaten up. Had holes in it in fact. Lots of loose parts rattling around inside box. Upon opening and assembling found a bolt missing. Not a big problem as I had a bolt that worked.
cable attachment failed w first use, but fairly easy fix w common hardware. Flimsy rear attachment at handle, bad design...but tool works as advertised and I am 74 and weigh 125.
The puller is constructed fairly well and good quality. The issue i have is with thr gripper. It does not grip very well and takes a lot of effort to make sure it has grabbed the bush/tree well enough to pull it out. I would not recommend purchasing, buy a shovel and mattock instead.
Tried to use on several different very small saplings with maybe 10percent success. Does not work with anything with any kind of good root system even with putting wood plate under fulcrum. Not happy purchase.
The jaws do not close enough, it slips.
none of the hardware to put it together was in the box - a bag with crappy instructions that tell you what to use thats not in the box
Complete waste of money. I have not been able to pull 1 thing out with this tool. All it does is slide up the sappling. Teeth are not sharp enough. Garbage
The theory behind the design is great but the execution is not. The grippers do not have hardly any gripping force. The spring should be much much stronger. In the first day of use the gripping jaw bent between the gripper and the spring. Bottom line I would not recommend it to anybody.
Seemed very sturdy but it needs sharper points on the clamp. It did not grab onto anything very well at all. Had to return.
