[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Cabot Semi-Solid Stain+ Sealer for over 10 years. I have been using the stain on my outside furniture. The furniture is made from non- treaded wood. I stain it every other year and still in good condition. During the winter I cover up all furniture until spring. One thing for sure is to put your furniture on pavers to keep the moisture from getting to the wood. With this stain it has saved my furniture.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The word 'Cabot' is of French derivation and means 'head' or 'to sail'. That said, Cabot products truly are the 'head' of their class of competition in deck stains and all their products. I've been using their 'New Redwood' Semi-Solid deck stain for about 7 years years now and am truly amazed at the beautiful color, the durability, the moss and mildew resistance and especially the longevity of this stain that I've chosen!! Cabot will continue to be my first choice in deck stain. Cabot... 'sail on' for years to come!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 35 years ago I worked in a paint store where my boss told me Cabots was the best and I would not regret it. He was right! This fall I restained that same house with Cabots ss. It looks beautiful!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Cabot waterproofing on my deck several years ago and I just keep a new light coat on the deck floor every two years. The wood is older and has several imperfections so I add a colorant to the stain. My deck looks like new and I highly recommend Cabot for new and old wood decks.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I stained our newly installed fence today. It looks great!!! The pictures can do the talking.
I just re stained a 450 SF deck with about 30 steps and all the rails. I used almost 4 gallons. I used the oil based semi solid. I sanded all the top rails and scuffed the decking with green scotch brite pads to make sure it would adhere. Some of the old product of a different brand, was still a bit shiny in places. all the new boards took two coats but the rest covered with just one coat over the old coating. It looks great! If it fails I'll hear about it and will report back here. I made sure there was no foot traffic at all for 48 hours. Also no rain during the curing time. I applied the stain with square stain pads on the deck and furry 4" rollers on the spindles, rails and side boards. In some areas I had to wipe away some bubbles left by the roller before it dried. Myself and a helper completed the job in about 7 hours
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Cabot's semi solid oil base stain 5 gallon container. Sprayed it on with a Graco M7 sprayer. Covered approximately 1280 square feet. I'm extremely happy with the way that it covered my fence and the way it worked with my paint sprayer.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been using Cabot for years because I know I can count on it being a quality stain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a customer of theirs for about ten years now. Their products do what they say they do which is to protect your deck and at a fair price. You won't be disappointed but the key is PREPARATION on your part. This is my sixth review and still no award for a positive review but I'll keep trying!! I love my Cabot Semi-Solid 'New Redwood' !!!!
We bought this stain in Brickstone and it came out MUCH redder than we expected - be careful! Decking was Yellawood pine which is quite light naturally so perhaps it picked up more pigment than a different material or more aged wood. Application was easy though and unlike a few reviews here I would say it covers as least as much square footage as the can indicates. Finish is dull but I understand that a sheen usually indicates over-application so I'll be curious to see how it wears. We are in Charleston SC so our climate is harsh on wood surfaces.
