I picked up this 9 oz package of Cacique Pork Chorizo in the store, and it has quickly become a staple for meals at home. I cooked it first to bring out its rich, savory flavor, then mixed it with beans and chilies. While everything was still hot, I added mozzarella cheese on top so it melted perfectly, creating a gooey, flavorful dish that's great on its own or as a taco filling. I also used it for Taco Tuesday, and the chorizo added just the right amount of bold flavor without being too spicy. It cooks evenly and has a satisfying texture that's not greasy or dry, making it versatile for breakfast scrambles, tacos, or cheesy bean dishes. Pros: Rich, authentic pork flavor. Versatile for tacos, beans, or cheesy meals. Cooks evenly and holds texture well. Helpful tip: add mozzarella while the beans, chorizo, and chilies are still hot so it melts evenly.
I bought this because it was cheap and was in the meat department, so I figured why not try it? This is a meat additive, it's too soft to patty out. I added it to my spaghetti sauce and it was fantastic. I buy the beef and pork chorizo now. I add it to tacos, spaghetti, chili and breakfast casseroles. It's a great punch to whatever you make. Try it.
while this isn't like true meat chorizo I like how easy it is to cook up in minutes and add eggs scrambling them in as far as taste it's slightly pepper hot up front but any other seasonings seem to stay in the background. in a warm tortilla or slice of bread it's quick easy and portable
If you want a tasty breakfast that is EASY to make, look no further than chorizo con huevos, or chorizo and eggs. For a nice Keto breakfast, include keto burritos like Xtreme Wellness low carb tortillas. Just cook the chorizo for about 10 minutes on low heat, add the eggs and scramble. I've never had anyone I've fixed this for say they did not like it.
This is the first time I have cooked with chorizo, I was not disappointed at all. We have started a new tradition in our family for Christmas dinners, choosing a different region of the world and making the cuisine. Last year we chose Latino to cover a wider range. My dish was a hit in fact it was the highlight of dinner, with everyone raving about it. I cannot tell you how chorizo is supposed to look like or taste truthfully, but I can tell you this one did taste very well, and stood up to the finicky palates of children and teens. I will use this again trying new things to cook with it.
Fried and added to a dish, flavor of the dish is enhanced by the addition of this pork sausage. That said, very greasy - you lose about 1/3 from melted fat. Drained after cooking best thing to do. Very much cheaper here at Walmart than buying this item from a deli or bakery.
I bought this specifically to mix into a pot of pinto beans, and it added a fantastic, smoky kick without being overly greasy. It's a great way to flavor a large batch of beans quickly. My only minor complaint is that the 9 oz tube is a bit small for a bigger pot, so I'd suggest grabbing two to really get that bold flavor throughout.
I like the balance of flavor for the price. Could it be better - yes. But it really is good when paired with potatoes or eggs (or both) on a tortilla. It beats the socks off any of those fast food places for a breakfast meal. The price went up so now I may look around for something that cost less. But it is worth have a few of these in the freezer. I will buy it again.
This had no meat taste. it had some nice spice, but that and fat was the only flavor I tasted. i cooked it a long time trying to get a nice texture but it never got beyond paste. To be honest, it didn't render out much grease, but it did taste greasy and I am probably going to pay for earing this stuff in about an hour. I tried doctoring it up with eggs and a little cheese, but there is no saving it. It also left a weird, slightly metallic taste in my mouth after I ate. Won't be buying this again.
This is not what you’re looking for if you’re after pork chorizo. There are other brands a little more expensive that will be what you are after. This product is like liquid meat. It never firms up, it never becomes anything other than a paste. Not recommended.
