The smell of the coffee beans is aromatic, just like walking into a mom and pop coffee shop. The beans blend smoothly and you can smell the aroma of fresh coffee as the beans are being ground. Although the coffee is strong, it is smooth and does not leave a bitter aftertaste. In my opinion, it is just as good as the other Italian brand.

We bought ourselves an espresso maker for the holidays and tried several brands of beans before finding these. By far the best flavor and smoothness of any we've found and the closest thing to an authentic Italian espresso!

For fuller flavor, these beans need a finer grind than similar medium roast beans. Very aromatic, my adult daughter thought I was drinking hot cocoa. I've brewed as espresso and as coffee, in my Bosch machine, to my "unsophisticated" taste buds it works well for either.

The coffee is a good value

Intenso? Not so much. Admittedly identified as a medium roast, I hoped for more. It is smooth, has a nice flavor and the caffein level feels correct. I must have STRONG espresso. It was tempting to return the bag after the first few shots. The "medium roast" was clearly stated and so returning the bag would be unfair to the seller. Seriously, unlike my usual beans, I must reheat the shot twice until it's nearly burned. Trying this bean was worth a "shot" but I shall look for maximum roast in the future. Merry Christmas.
