I'm far from an expert and I have no idea how this Max LS compares to all the Callaway drivers, but I was using a TaylorMade Burner (which I liked). However I was looking to add a little more distance to my drives. So after reading reviews and doing some research, I decided to go with the Epic Max LS, and so far I absolutely love it. The ball is definitely flying further.
For a used Club it was in Great shape. I really like the sliding weight in this series of the Callaway Drivers. So far I've only used it in the simulator, but can't wait to take it out to the Golf Course!
awesome!
I played my first round with this driver and this is my honest review. I want to start by saying that I swing very aggressive and quick. I play an X-Stiff HZRDUS PVD Smoke green Hulk shaft. The first 2 holes, faded a little right which is my normal for me and what I have always struggled with. The distance wasn't longer or shorter. Standard for a fade. After that, it was pretty much dialed in and I knew where it would go. So i was actually playing a baby draw. Never have i felt confident with aiming slightly right knowing the ball would either go straight or draw back in. Didn't worry about a Fade or a slice. Standing over this driver gave me confidence that I have never had with my other Driver (usually play Taylormade) Once i was dialed in, the distance was pretty good and drives were flying off the club face. Like i said, i always battled a fade/slice but this club will help a lot.
Epic Max LS is by far the best driver I ever hit. I originally purchased the Epic but something about the aero space shape doesn't go with my swing as I had the same issue with the Mavrik driver. So I then tried the Epic Max but it was a little to draw bias which turned into hook shots and launch height was way too high. I finally went back to my Epic Flash for a while until I finally went to a professional fitter. While there I tried the Sim2, G425, and Epic LS. By far the Epic LS was the winner on accuracy and more so on distance as I was about 10yrds further with the Epic LS on carry and 15 to 20 plus on total distance. I originally didn't try the LS cause I thought it was not as forgiving, as I can be inconsistent at times hitting the center of face. But that was not the case at all as it was more forgiving than the Epic Flash.
I've never reviewed a driver because they're all pretty good these days and I've always hit them all about the same. Not the case here. I've been playing for a lot of years and used to bomb it, but have steadily been losing distance there last 10-12 years. I took a demo LS out for a round last week and immediately ordered one (and I'm on staff with another company). No exaggeration...I feel like this driver just rolled the clock back 15 years! Long, straight and forgiving. I even whiffed one bottom-groove-heal, going straight into the fan and it went dead straight and nearly as far as my old driver would go on perfect contact. It was so good I wasn't going to be able to play again without it!
Have only been able to hit this in the bays and a couple times on the range since our season hasn't kicked off yet. What I have noticed is a more consistent flight pattern vs the Max and the Speed versions. Having a lower spin driver will help keep the ball in play. I am happy to sacrifice the 2-3 yards difference in the others to play from the fairway.
Good quality. Like new. The price is reasonable I had been looking for this driver. Good to get Callaway authenticated driver.
Came in better than expected condition, Too cold to play it yet but I am excited to grip it and rip it!
Global rated this club "very good", so I bought it. When I received it, it had multiple nicks and abrasions along the top where the crown meets the face. The same Epic Speed club from Callaway preowned would have cost me about $20 less and, judging from their reputation, would have been in better condition. The club was clean, however. I will buy from someone else next time.
