I've gone through plenty of non-stick pans in my life and can't stand it when no matter how carefully I take care of them, they get dull, scratchy, and EVERYthing sticks!! This pan is a marked improvement with a really durable non-stick interior and breezy clean-up, even when making homemade caramels!! There is actually less tension in our home as no one minds “scrubbing the pan” anymore!! It's the best non-stick finish I've ever come across!! Improve your life, get this pan!!
We are very happy with our 3.5 quart Calphalon pot. We had one for 15 plus years and finally decided we needed to replace it. The lid is perforated, allowing steam to escape, and the spout on one side is helpful for pouring soups and sauces. We use it for everything from making tomato sauces to boiling pasta to brewing iced tea. It's multi-functional!
I brought got it a couple of months ago and I've used it at least three times now and it's perfect 👌🏾 for me to use for cooking rice and broccoli. The rice doesn't stick and the clean up is great too and the fact that it has a top is great. I don't have to use a larger pot just because I had a top 😉. I've been using this brand for years and I have practically every piece of the collection now. The original pieces were made much heavier than now, but they still look 👀 great and cooks everything perfectly and evenly.
Cooked rice and it bubbled over all over the stove. I really did not do anything differently than I have in the past. Also happened with potatoes. Now I know I need to prop the lid slightly to avoid that from happening, but kinda defeats the purpose, right?
Material composition not listed on their web site. This 3.5 Qt. sauce pan is made in China and contains PTFE which only shows on the cardboard wrap when I received the new pan. The world is moving away from these products that are toxic when either heated to 500 degrees F. or if the product is scratched, (Have you ever scratched a non stick pan? I have.) Please read the precautions about PTFE on independent websites to make an informed purchase. My wife used this pan before I had a chance to return it.
I added to my Calphalon sauce pan collection but was disappointed when I saw the deep rimmed lid for straining purposes. It just doesn't stack with my other lids and takes up too much space. But I deal with it.
We have been buying and using Calphalon cookware for 30 years. This new pot is not the same quality and craftsmanship as the pot it replaced. The other pot was heavier and the handles didn't get hot.
Not the quality they used to be, thinner and the handles get hot. They used to be made heavy. Sadly, I left my old saucepan inthe burner and caramelized sugar which finally did it in. I bought this to replace it. Not even close. Very sad.
Nice pan. Arrived with big dent in metal on lid side. Needed to replace my older 3.5 qt calphalon. Didn't like that pan isn't as wide on bottom, so less surface area heating up. Taller, again, less surface area being heated than prior pan.also, no taper out on top or pour spouts on side of pans like old pan. Since its still a scratch able surface, this costs a lot for something that'll need replacing in 5ish years as recommended. I'm going to look for a wider 3.5 qt pan like my old one, preferably with non toxic surface. I would have used this if it wasn't damaged, but almost glad it came damaged, as it makes me search for a better pan.
The first photo does no show that this product has two pour spouts, which makes it useless for making rice.
