I have owned Calphalon since 1993! It is superior, professional, yet lay person friendly as well ;-) I love my Calphalon and my new stock pot. My original from 1993 is still in superior condition, but I needed another one for larger cooking projects!
The perfect pot for stews, soups, stocks, chilies, pot roasts, etc and more. An almost daily indispensable go to.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find this pot great for making soups and chili!! I usually make about a 4 quart recipe so there is plenty of space to stir the chili as it cooks. The quality non-stick interior helps to keep the meat from sticking and thus clean up is quick and easy!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this stock pot for a few years and it is perfect for making soups. When I begin a soup I sautee vegetables and I add little if any oil and the vegetables do not stick. It is a must pan in a ktichen.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about 2 months ago and i use it for everything like this pot is like magic. I use this pot everything I make spaghetti and smoth process every time like perfect noodle.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had these plans for 3 years now and they still look brand new! So easy to clean. Even dried on food washes away after briefly soaking.
Pros: I like this pot because it's a little taller than my last one. It's not as wide. Cons: The handles get very hot and the glass top does not grip as well as my older one.
I bought this stock pot 4 months ago and have already replaced it once through the product warranty. Despite the claim that it is safe to use metal utensils when cooking with this pan, it will become scratched. Perhaps as the product description states, you can use a wire whisk or metal spatula however you can not use an immersion blender or metal potato masher. In my experience, these common kitchen tools left scratches in the pot. Another issue I encountered was when I made tomato soup, the acid of the tomatoes left a permanent ring around the inside of the pot. Otherwise the pot cooks well- it heats evenly and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. I will not use metal utensils or cook tomato soup with my stockpot going forward.
After researching for a new set of cookware for months, I finally decided on the Calphalon 10 piece signature series set. This stockpot as well as most of the other items in the set were all marked and deemed defective. I chose this set because of the quality I believed I would be getting. Instead, I was disappointed and am currently waiting for my replacement set. I had originally planned to buy all the other pieces to the set, but now I'm not even certain I'll keep my replacement set .
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far, I have had two Signature 8qt that leaked at handles. Yes, they replaced it,d but it's time-consuming to wrap up the pot and return plus the mess it made to my glass cooktop. I have an electric cooktop that was a mess after the pot leaked. I had to shut off the cooktop, let it cool so I could clean then transfer my soup to another pot. The first time they replaced it, I figured I just got a bad pot, but then they replaced it, and the same thing happened. It has to be a defect in the manufacturing. I wish they would be honest and just give me a pot that works, even if it's cheaper or smaller.
