Camco 09951 Professional Element Socket

This socket makes it easy to remove the water heater element. It's flat edge design pretty much prevents rounding out the slim nut on the element.

The socket metal was strong enough to break the frozen element without slipping or stripping either the socket or element. This is a decent tool for changing out home water heater elements saving $$$ by not having to call a plumber. Change your elements yearly and flush the tank and a hot water heater is all tuned up for another year.

So I have used the "other" type of water heater element removal tools. The "other" type being a 5" long tube shaped into a 1-1/2" socket at one end. I could not get my element loose with that device this time. For a handle you need to use a big screwdriver or some kind of rod. So the device here, a real 1-1/2" socket works better. I could use my socket wrench and slip my breaker bar over that. With a better gripping socket and better leverage, my element finally came loose.

don't try to pull the element with those cheap three piece element socket sets ! Even calcified elements will come right out with this socket. I'm impressed.

With this socket and a 25 inch breaker bar broke the element loose which was totally corroded in lime.

Was not EVEN the size it was supposed to be! TOTAL waste of my time!
