I really like this winch as it was easy to install and works very well. It is much quieter than the one I had previously. The auto deploy feature is nice but a little tricky. If you don't keep an eye on it too much rope can deploy and it gets tangled in the spool. Might just take some getting used to but other than that, I really like this winch.

I chose the Trac brand over the Min Kota because of the wireless remote. When positioning for location on my boat, I noticed the springs that press against the drum shaft block had moved off to the side, making the auto-deploy function inop. I thought "why didn't they engineer a shoulder on the block to prevent the spring from sliding off the side?". I took the gear case cover off and pulled the gear and shaft out. I removed the block and discovered there was a shoulder on the back side- it was installed wrong at the factory. Turned the block around and reinstalled shaft and cover. Then discovered there is so much side play in drum that the block could slide over enough that it would not actuate auto-deploy switch. Went to hardware store and bought steel fender washer and four poly washers to fill gap. Checked operation and found after awhile auto-deploy stopped working- found springs slipped off of other side of block. Put springs back in place and drilled small hole in block along side of springs and super glued in a small piece of paper clip. Unit works well as intended with a little re-manufacturing. Would only recommend this to someone who has mechanical or engineering skills.

auto drop failed in second year,, spring has fell off block,, called and new units have place for spring. when putting back together the motor bracket seems 1/4 inch short. they had put some oversized washers in to fill gap.,, bracket does not fit. will have to call for correct parts. bad engineering.

Bought this to use on my fishing vacation. After removing my old manual winch and installing this unit it did nothing. Checked to make sure there was power to the unit. Jumpered power to the motor, It worked. called TRAC said I had a bed control unit and would send a new one. They did but it was the wrong one, Call back said they would send me the right one. they did but it does not work either. Can't call them today, not in the office on weekends. My vacation will be over before I get it working. It says it does not come with an anchor but that's wrong it is the anchor.
