Very nice. High quality - particularly for the price. Highly recommend.
Wood oars came by Fedex day after Oarlocks that came by UPS. They were very nice oars and right length but too skinny for oars locks so had a buddy cut some radiator hose to make snug fit. Also, I went to hardware store buying longer screws with lugnuts/washers to create tight hopefully lasting experience.
Exceeded my expectations from Walmart - these are more what I would expect to find in a high-end sporting goods store.
This oar is beautiful, varnished to show the wood grain. Well cut and well proportioned.
This seems like a sturdy paddle. I bought it for a river boat. Paddle end is a little small but should work for a push pole.
One of my 8 foot oars came with a slight gap where parts were joined on the blade, but so far it is not causing a problem. Other than that an excellent product at about half the price of other oars. I am very happy with my purchase.
For the price, I certainly was not expecting a set of Shaw and Tenney Adirondacks, but these are real war-clubs. Blades as received were almost 3/4" thick and terrible balance. The construction and materials quality are acceptable (for the price) and the grips are adequate. A little belt sander work to thin out the blades (3/8 edges) and oval the shafts improved the balance a lot and reduced the weight by several pounds. All in all, a decent pair of utility oars, especially if you take a little time to modify them.
I returned them after getting them out of the box. One oar had a knot in it where the water would be. I didn't like that. The actual oar was also not very " efficient " looking. Meaning, it was what I believed real " kinda 2x6 ish." For the money they would have worked, I ended up with some Caviness oars, not miles better but they were made in the USA.
oars are not as wide as they should be for 8' oars, and one had a large knot in it, which in time will probable fall out, over all one was a nice looking oar and the other one has a knot in it. I would not buy these again. and may return the one with a knot before it is over.
I used oar one time and it snapped.. I examined the wood and it appeared to be made from a dead and decaying tree.
