Well designed flat top! Works great for our 50 employees at out auto dealership. We can cook 30 hot dogs and 15 1/3 lb hamburgers without it being too crowded. Drip pan and grease channel perfectly designed.
This flat top is fantastic. We have cooked multiple pounds of beef, chicken, and veggies for fajitas at once, on low, and never skipped a beat. The thickness of the flat top is what sold me on the Camp Chef instead of the much thinner flat top on the other options on the market. It holds the heat much better making for a smoother cooking process. I have friends that are already looking into upgrading to a Camp Chef. It's worth it's weight, literally.
I purchased a four burner after one cook I knew I wanted more space to cook. Received the 900 easy to put together. The first cook I knew I found the perfect griddle. Perfect heat and plenty of room. Great product.
Purchased this grill for our local Croatian club. We cook a lot of these little Croatian sausages call "Cevapi", we've used our charcoal and gas grills in the past and will flare ups from grease dripping at times were not good to say the least. With the new flat top we can grill more, more even cooking and best of all no smoke in you eyes. Can't wait to try it for a pancake breakfast in our future plans. Joe PS myself and a couple of the other cooks are planning on getting our own flat tops for the house.
I've always loved eating out at japanese hibachi's, and was intrigued by the idea of taking the fun of it to my backyard instead of slaving away inside a kitchen. The FTG900 offers ample cooking area to do a full assortment of food at once. The grease is neatly collected in a tray off to the side. Assembly was easier than expected, the clear directions helped. The construction feels industrial and sturdy. I would definitely recommend it for a more fun grilling experience than a traditional grill.
Just under a month ago that I purchased this griddle and so far I am very happy with this purchase. The only thing I wish Camp Chef made for this griddle is some sort of plate or cover to block the high heat from the sides of the griddle. The heat makes it impossible to place anything on the side shelves which renders them useless.
I researched camp chef for a few months and compared them with their rivals and there is no comparison. Camp chef is the King! I waited almost 6 weeks for this griddle because It was out of stock and It was worth the wait. The ftg 900 is a great cooking machine. I will never go back to grilling grates. It cooks everything you can think of and It keeps all your meats fresh and juicy. I love hibachi shrimp and the ftg900 is awesome at that. I made breakfast one day, and it was great. Everything from eggs, bacon, hash browns and French toast. My wife loves the fact that we don't have to make a mess of the stove and kitchen anymore. The burners turn on with no problem and the unit cooks evenly throughout. You can adjust the heat from one side to another, depending on what you're cooking. I clean It after every use and condition It with olive oil or canola oil. Outdoor Cooking notified me the moment It was back in stock and they were great with the support and shipping. I love my camp chef ftg 900
I am not a camper, but I am a professional chef who owns & operates a catering company. I used this last weekend to do an off site catering for a wedding. From 160 pieces of Salmon, 160 pieces of marinated chicken, to my asparagus & German sausages, this flat top handled every bit of it, with perfect sears. I never turned it past medium hot & it kept consistent heat. I didn't find large hotspots like I have found on there brands. I don't like this flattop, I absolutely LOVE IT. It came on time Outdoor Cooking & it was a easy transaction. I recommend purchasing the grill cover too. I highly recommend it & plan on purchasing another to keep at my house and a smaller version to give to my father in law as a gift this holiday.
It came damaged, numerous dents all over the frame and the burners don't always light on their own. 75% of the time my husband has to do it with a camp lighter.
First, I would give this unit 5 stars if the heat was easier to keep down. I have cooked pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, chicken fried rice, chicken cheesesteaks, and pot stickers. Everything has come out great, and my only complaint is that I have to work fast when making pancakes, or they burn. I even tried turning the propane tank only one full turn and it was still hard to regulate temperatures. I'm not sure what is going on, but I still love cooking on it. I would recommend this product, but work with a hot/warm zone (3 burners on, and 2 burners off) style of cooking.
