We purchased one Canary for our kitchen, and find that it works well. Figuring out the program took a bit, but nothing that we couldn't do. The Canary automatically moves from Home and Away modes so that makes it very convenient. I would recommend this product to another person due to its performance and price. Now that we've had the first Canary for a while, we'll add a second one in our basement.
Very very nice. The night shots are a little difficult to make out if was hoping for a little better image but I can see who is in the room when the tv is on. During the day it is nearly as good as watching your best HD tv. Connected from any where is no problem with your phone. This would be my choice hands down.
So easy to set up! Love watching over the house when away. It even picked up a bug flying in view of it. The view is wide and covers my whole great room and dining room, where both outside doors are located. It looks sleek and blends with other electronics in our great room. The night vision is mazing, too! Love this security camera and hope to add more soon to other rooms or outside.
I've had my Canary a little over a month and a half now and just love it. You can't beat what this delivers for the price, and it actually went above and beyond my early expectations. Out of the box setup took maybe 5 minutes tops and I haven't had a single problem since then. My wifi connection's pretty unreliable, which causes a lot of problems with my other devices that often require some fiddling or a reboot, but not the Canary. Even when the signal drops it always picks it back up without fail. That may seem like a small thing, but considering that my high-end PC hasn't even figured out this trick, I'll take it. Features are great too. I love being able to check in on pets while at work, out for the night or traveling, and honestly don't know how I got by without remote pet voyeurism before. I love that it arms itself automatically when it senses me leave the apartment and disarms when I get back. Camera is top-notch, and even does a great job in night vision mode. Overall I couldn't be happier with it and haven't ever had a single issue in my almost 2 months of ownership. Definitely recommend it!
I set up Canary in my apartment a few weeks ago, and overall I find it to be quite an impressive product. The setup of the device was very easy, and the device was packaged very well. The retail package included all the necessary cables to get my Canary up and running, including a "security" cable that connects to my phone's headphone jack. This cable is used to program the Canary with my network credentials and security preferences, and it works on either Android or iPhone. Very impressive. The device arms itself automatically when I leave the apartment, based on my location as reported by my phone. This makes me feel especially secure, since it prevents me from forgetting to arm the canary before I leave. It disarms itself automatically when I get home using the same mechanism. This feature appears to work flawlessly, and it's the reason why I like this product so much as a home security solution. As happy as I am with its features, I think Canary still needs some software work... It is extremely sensitive. I often get false alarms during the day, perhaps caused by birds flying or wind blowing trees affecting the lighting in my apartment. Also, it sends a false alarm every morning after I leave, just after I've walked two blocks away from the apartment. The interface is easy to use, although it seems to be lagging on my phone sometimes. Then again, it could be any other app causing this lag, so who knows? Watching a live stream while I'm away from the apartment usually works very nicely. Sometimes it takes some time to get the video stream to play, but I'm sure that will work better after some software updates. Overall, I think this is a great new product, and I am happy to have one of my own.
Worked great in the first 7 days when the trial ran out. The company false advertised their product. They said no contract but when you set it up the app associated with the Canary is for only 7 days. After the trial the camera stopped catching instant recordable views, lengthy time lapses meaning I got a notification sent to my phone 20 minutes after a member of the household left the recordable area. Also after the trial you can only view the current recorded videos and next day they are gone. If you want all the downloads and instant access with no delays, you have to purchase a membership, weekly, monthly or yearly. $300 for a year of access after you just spent $200 on the Canary. Pros...great picture clarity, night mode and day mode.
This was our third camera we added to out house. The system works fine except for the "auto switch mode". This has become totally unreliable even after 20+ emails with tech support. Still recommend for it's intended purpose but for the auto switch [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I purchased a brand new camera and it was delivered on 5/28/2026. It was stuck in the update process and found out it was manufactured in 2017! What the heck? Canary customer service is via text message. Very frustrated.
This securty camera has great features and the video quality is pretty great as well. Where this product falls way short is the constant software issues. The app that is used with the divice horrible. I myself need a device that will produce as advertised. I monitor my home with several cameras made by different companies. The Canary is the only one I have constant issues with. Maybe look elsewhere because until they resolve the software issues this camera is not worth the money
Purchased three of these cameras and told countless others of their merits. Have used these for over a year. While the camera themselves are still really good quality, they have changed the terms of service (as of Oct. 2, 2017) to remove all of the free features I, and many others, purchased this camera for. Do not buy this camera unless you want to pay for access to your videos and other basic features which used to be included. I am extremely disappointed with the company and regret purchasing these cameras.
