Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

I bought this lens as a present for my boyfriend. We travel a good bit and he always wishes he had a telephoto lens for shots he wants to take. This one was affordable and well made. He will be able to use it on our trips to make more memorable photos for us.

If your ever a photographer or a plane spotter, i suggest u buy, ive used it so many times and honestly my best choice.

This is a very good telephoto lens but the autofocus is not always perfectly sharp (manual focus works fine). This lens does not have stabilization. I paid $220 with tax and shipping but feel this is over priced when compared to other comparable lenses.

I bought this to replace a 19 year old similar lens from another manufacturer that finally began having intermittent communication issues with the camera. The new lens is smaller, lighter and focuses much faster than the old one. It's also a lot quieter when focusing. A big plus is that it uses filters the same diameter as two other lenses I already use, making the load I have to carry around a lot lighter.

It has its pros and cons. It doesn’t self adjusted so you are constantly adjusting trying to get a good picture which is hard when taking pictures of sports

This lens suffers from price point selling. People want a long lens but are unwilling to pay for the quality ones. Enter the 75-300mm f/4-5.6. This lens is very cheap and it shows. I feels plasticky. The zoom and focus rings aren't really damped, so it feels cheap. The lens suffers badly from lens creep. if you are aiming at a downward angle the front of the lens slides out and you lose focus quickly. Lastly, it needs very bright light to get a sharp photo. It is f/4 only at 75 and for most of its range it is at f/5.6. Uses: sports maybe, but only in the middle of the day. Never indoors, never at dusk or dawn unless you have a very steady tripod, end even then ut must be level or your shots can still come out a little fuzzy from the lens creep. It's very similar to my brother's old Minolta of the same length, and that was made in the 1960s. Canon has known quality control issues, especially with certain low end products (but not always! They had some issues with the latest professional models cameras just last year). The one I tried might just be a particularly egregious example. Do yourself a favor, get the 70-300 IS at least. It's worth the extra money, and less aggravation. Or even the 70-200 f/4 L

Placed order on 12/27. The package is bouncing around with DHL, never been recieved by the post office. Walmart CS was no help at all, told me to just keep waiting. I have tried to call the seller but kept getting a google voice message. Seems pretty scammy.

Canon makes two nearly identical lenses: the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III, and the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM. The only real difference is the type of motor used in the auto focus mechanism. This listing says it is the USM model (which is the higher quality motor), but the one I received is not.
