Give up, they own you.
A necessary evil when it comes to price per ounce. Just like razors and razor blades, they give away the printers and then make their money on the ink.

It's overpriced but it's the ony ink that will work consistently with my Canon multifunctiion printer MX870

great original ink cartridge
Nothing beats ink cartridges from the manufacturer of the product. I used inexpensive ink cartridges in the past. Spent half the time cleaning the heads and wasting half the cartridge. This is the only way to go.

partially met expectations
The item was shipped to the store quickly and was available for pickup. However, when I picked it up, the shipping had crushed the Canon logo box containing the ink cartridge. Not taking any chance on the condition of the ink cartridge inside, I had to exchange it for the same item sitting on the stock shelf, in an undamaged Canon logo box.
