As expected....but the delivery was super fast
300lbs and a bar for 270ish, that's really a great buy. The seems to be good quality and lookservice like it will last. It's was a little dirty when I got it but it wiped off clean. The metal plates look great at first glance. But they do have some small sharp edges. But nothing that will cut your hand open. Overall, this is a great buy and I recommend it.
Great set at a nice price point.
the bar is way off the bar supposed to weight 45 the bar included in this set weights 36 lbs, other than that weight plates are ok,weight is weight,I bought this since all the gyms are closed because of covid19
Honestly I'd rate it lower but the price couldn't be beat. The good, it's a bar and a bunch of plates. The meh, the plates have some sharpness to the edges. The bad, the bar is on the thin side, haven't measured. The paint is laid on so thick the knurling does nothing. The paint rapidly fails from contact with j-hooks or whatever. I came into an older Cap bar way better.
All good would recommend to anyone
First off, this is the same set as Right way fitness, all comes from CAP barbell. I got this as a cheap starter set to do Stronglifts 5x5 and go with a Best Fitness power rack. I weighed each plate new from the box and all were within 1lb for the larger weights, and within .3 lbs on the smaller ones. This is a big pro for many, myself included. The knurling on the bar is effective and spaced well with knurling in the center for squats. Now the bad. I did in-store pickup. When it was brought out to me, a few boxes were ripped open and the bar had quite a few scuffs throughout, all cosmetic issues. Additionally, it seems as if the bearings or whatever the ends roll on, have started to rust inside as there is a rusty color dust coming from the small bap between the bar. The ends on my bar do not spin evenly, it will spin easy about 3/4 of the way then it requires a bit more effort to get back a hard spot then repeats the cycle. The weights are crudely cast, sharp edges and oblong center holes required me to file all the sharp edges down to prevent being cut when handling the weights, and file the center hole to allow it to fit on the bar. This means there are now bare spots without paint. First handling of the weights there was a lot of black residue left on my skin as well, probably forging dust. If you have a file and don't care how they look, then these are the weights for you. Inexpensive (I paid $199.99 no coupons) and function fine after a bit of work is put into them. My advice, don't buy them if they are over $200. Dicks (Fitness Gear, currently $199.99 on sale as well) has a similar grip plate set for less than the $277 these are now and can be seen in person.
Black paint comes off the bar as soon as you start putting weights on. Weights had sharp pieces of metal that I had to grind of because I sliced my hand open on one. Walmart won't do anything about it.
I thought it was a great purchase until I discovered the 35lb weights were not cut good in the center. They will not fit on the bar or my weight stand. You can see the rough edge that has to be grinded down some to fit.
I attached a picture and put in a red straight line to show the bend. The Bar came with a bend towards the one end. I chatted with customer service and I would have to return the entire 300 pound (136 kg) set. They wanted me to take the entire set to a Walmart because it was out of stock! Then after a while they said they would send for it to be picked up. I decided against this, so I'm stuck with a bent bar. I would have liked just to return the bar, but Walmart wouldn't allow this. The weights are mostly close to what they should be. A few are dead on, a few are slightly over. The one 2.5lb is under by 4 ounces. The worst is a ten pound which is half a pound over. Weights are acceptable for the price. Some reviews on this bar say it is refurbished and painted. That may very well be true or mine was ran over by a truck or forklift! My bar had no packaging at all from the freight company, so it came all scratched up. The smaller weights had boxes and the bigger ones didn't. Like 5 separate packages. I expected to eventually buy another bar assuming it would bend when I got over 200 pounds. I didn't expect it to come bent and I wouldn't have bought this having known that.
