I made my own, with a 1-1/8” dia oak dowel, 24” long. Rope is 3/16” thick x 5' long, purchased at West Marine. I used a dog leash clip and wrapped the dowel with athletic tape for a better grip. The rope is knotted to the clip and to the dowel. Besides the hole in the dowel (for the rope), I drilled a larger countersunk hole to conceal the knot. I also burned the rope ends to prevent unraveling.

This is a great item and for some reason usually overlooked among guys who lift but it's one of the best things for developing forearms. The picture on the package shows a guy doing it with his arms extended all the way out but it's better to do them at waist-level or else you're limited by how long you can do a front raise (anyone's shoulders will be burning after 30 seconds even with just 15 or 20lbs). You can roll in either direction to target the muscles for both extension and flexion. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but unfortunately the package claims that this roller is only rated up to 40lbs. It's still worth it to buy one because it will take you a while to be able to do 40lbs for several reps, and you will definitely see forearm development along the way there, but when you could just make your own with a metal pipe, a drill, and some parachute cord, I think they could have manufactured it to withstand a heavier weight than 40lbs.

handles are a poor design.

not as sturdy as expected but gets the job done for the price.

Grips are crappy and give with less than 25 lbs attached to the rope. I'll get some gorilla glue and put them on again.
