We bought this gate for the top of our stairs which are wider than standard gates will fit. The instructions were excellent. It is very easy to open and close once you get the hang of it. It also looks sleek and not tacky. We are very happy with our purchase.

This is a high quality precision product. Every piece fits the way it should, no struggling during assembly. I liked the first one I purchased so much that I bought two more and I'm considering another for an upcoming project. Considering the intended function of this gate, I think it's a bargain.

This is a well made gate. It is fairly easy to assemble and is sturdy. It replaced a pressure mounted gate from a different manufacturer that fit poorly and was not sturdy. Very pleased with the gate and quick delivery.

This is a good-looking option if you're tired of the plastic pressure-type safety gates that don't last. We installed 5 of these in black in our son's new home. All of their visitors are impressed by the appearance, ease of operation, and wide opening. An added plus--no trip hazard for Grandma!

the gate is very sturdy! my kids 4, 2 & 10mos old, everyday they try will to wiggle, push or pull it, but it never budge. it's hard to figure out how to open it so even my smarty pants 4 yr old couldn't figure it out. but once you know how to open it, it's easy. i use one hand to open it.

This was not the outdoor gate even though product title originally said "Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Outdoor Safety Gate 27" to 42.5" wide x 29.5" tall. " Product description also stated it was the outdoor version. The only difference is the outdoor version has stainless steel hardware, so I just used rustoleum on the hardware it came with and it has been fine outside with rain and heat. You can buy stainless steel hardware separately if desired. It isn't a huge deal but would have been nice to know beforehand. Jet.com should list the manufacturers part number to avoid such mistakes in the future.

It should say somewhere other than in the questions below that this gate DOES not include the clamps. Most "stairway specific" baby gates are intended for banister use. Since most people don't want to drill holes in their banisters, some sort of clamp would be needed to use this gate AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS with a banister. SAY SOMEWHERE THAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CLAMPS!
