This tray is exactly what I have been looking for so my mom can eat at her wheel chair instead of eating while lounging in her recliner. I was a little nervous about ordering this because of a few bad reviews saying the wheels were cracking. So far so good. It was easy to build. The tray is very heavy duty. My mom also uses it as a side table next to her recliner. I love the large tray so she can have enough room for food items, drink and remotes. It would also be nice for arts and crafts. Slides up and down very easy. This will also make a great bed tray. it would be nice if it swiveled, but then it probably would not be sturdy.
This table to me was more than I could ever expect, I was blown away and how nice this table was. I would not hesitate to buy this table again. To me I think you will like this table also.
Solid and feels sturdy. Wheels are adequate. Rolling on carpet could be an issue. The plastic top is adequate and rigid. The table lip/edge is not that high so things can roll/fall off. Raising and lowering the table is adequate.
After reading about some over the bed tables, I was concerned that this table might not hold up and would be difficult to assemble. Thankfully I was wrong on both counts. The table is very sturdy and was extremely easy to assemble. It cost more than some others but it was worth it. As a result, I am not concerned about my 89 year old uncle having his table fall apart over his bed.
This product is well-built, easy to assemble and adjusts effortlessly. The tray has two slight indentations formed in it: one to hold a glass or cup and one which is approximately 4 x 7 inches that has groves to help hold pens, eating utensils or other items. When assembling the unit, you can place these two indentations on either the far right or far left side of the tray by installing the the verticle base on either the left or right side of the C-base. A cap snaps into the opening of the C-base that is not used. Furthermore, the tray has a raised lip around its preimeter to help contain spills. The unit easily moves around due to its decent wheels. Also, the tray moves up and down with ease because the vericle base is spring-loaded. I priced such trays in healthcare stores and they were priced twice as much with half the quality. My father loves this unit. He can use it as a bedtray or as a table when he is in wheelchair-- thanks to the "C-shape" of the base.
I specifically bought this tray table to put my laptop, mouse etc on because I do a lot of my homework in the comfort of my bedroom. I know every penny spent on this one was worth it. All of the other tables I viewed just didn't look nearly as large or sturdy and many of them were much more expensive than this one. There is a place for a cup and a great little sunken area near that where I keep my pens and cell phone. I have enough room on this thing for a small dinner plate, drink, laptop, mouse pad, mouse and then some. Highly recommend the splurge; you get what you pay for and I'm SO glad I took the chance on this one. PS: I read reviews always before buying online, so I wanted to leave this review for those who like to do that.
My mother is housebound and under Hospice care. We needed to get her a table for over the bed and/or over a chair. None of the ones we looked at really caught our attention. We did not want that old "hospital looking furniture". We spotted this one on line and it was unanimous to purchase this table. We are glad that we did so. It wipes up beautifully from any spills and the lip around the edges prevents spills. I will admit that after I put it together, it was a little bit slanted. I emailed the Carex Company ASAP. The very next day, I received both an email and a telephone call telling me how to correct the problem. IT WORKED. The folks at Carex were phenomenal. Loved the Walmart price, no shipping price, and fast delivery. This was an all around great experience.
Fairly easy to assemble, but I'd recommend using the steel washers to tighten the balance of the tabletop. It still wobbles a tiny bit, but doesn't sag with that extra support; you can deal with it. The top is a good size; he is able to eat at one end while leaving his glasses and other things at the other. I'm not sure if the plastic top would take a reasonably hot dish, so use a pad for soup bowls, etc. We have used it for about a month, and we're pleased with it.
The table is just what we were looking for after a family health issue. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because for me that's a very high bar to reach. I know some people rated it lower due to the weight it holds (or doesn't hold), but we don't plan on putting bags of cement on it. Pros: Easy to put together. Sturdy. Holds normal items (laptop, dinner, paperwork) without issue - of course not all at the same time. Height adjusts easily. Cons: Switching the table to the other side will require getting out the tool box again to take the nuts off the bolts at the bottom of the support.
I purchased this table for my father who is now living with me. After a recent hospital stay, I commented to him that it would be nice to have a table like the one they had at the hospital for him to eat his meals or have his drinks in bed while recovering. This is not the same but very similar. It moves up/down and the bottom of the table can go under the bed. I like the way the bottom allows space for his legs without a bar so he can use away from the bed as well with a chair.
