I bought this at the last minute when we realized all of us and our stuff were not going to fit in the vehicle the next morning. I read that the straps weren't great, but we didn't have any issues with them. It fit on the roof of my SUV and held quite a bit of our stuff. We were able to tie it to the rails on the top of my car without any issues. It was waterproof and worked well. We're pleased we have this now for other trips.
Used it to travel from GA to Fla 8 hr trip both ways and have done it multiple times. Bag holds all items securely and didnt damage anything nor lose anything. Recommend purchase ratchet straps for additional tie down security. Straps on bag nylon and will rip. One zipper has broken but the other zipper still in tact working fine. Does the job. Plenty of space and will need help installing.
Love it! Much sturdier than imagined. It's a little big for my roof rack but still works. It will be great for everything that I need it for! Great product!
We needed a little more room to pack everything we needed for camping, and this did just that. I chose this one because it claimed to be waterproof and rain was in the forecast. It stormed the whole trip home, and our sleeping bags and pillows stayed dry! I highly recommend this car top storage. We are very happy with our purchase. I wish I would have bought it last year.
Drove over 800 miles with pouring rain and some snow. Our luggage stayed dry. Used 2 ratchet straps criss-cross over the top for extra security. Good option for the price.
I've taken this bag on five 900 mile trips now and here are my observations: 1. The included straps are very cheap, make SURE to buy two or three real cargo straps before your first trip. 2. The bag is waterproof in all but the heaviest storms, just ensure the flaps are folded over the zipper and secured with the velcro. 3. Packing the bag takes some practice, but i suspect it would be the same with any soft bag.
we bought this for a trip to Maryland. literally, the first and only time that we have used it a zipper broke and the item has a small tear in the waterproof out layer. For $140, im very unhappy with this.
Very unhappy! Purchased this the day before a trip from the West Coast to the Midwest, spending 1.5 hours driving to and from the nearest Walmart that had the carrier in stock. When I got home and took it out of the box, the buckle straps were missing. This ended up delaying my trip as it was too late to get straps elsewhere that night. Then I had to spend more money the next morning buying straps at Home Depot since it was closer. I emailed customer service but no response. They should at least reimburse me for the straps. So buyer beware. I see now that other reviewers had the same issue.
One use, two broken buckle clips... you're tying this thing down on your car, you'd imagine you want it tight... The buckles are not meant to do that and will snap under pressure. Bag is great, but you better have a contingency to strap it down. Really, really disappointed in an otherwise good looking product.
less than 2 hours into a trip.and we lost everything. this cargo bag was secure as could be. straps busted and i lost over $500 in my childrens Christmas stuff. dont buy.
