does not work well at all. it makes my face numb but I don't think it did anything to help heal my cold sore, and ice tried it a few times.

Product masks symptoms, it does not speed healing
The Carmex company was told by the National Advertising company that its claims that it speeds healing is inaccurate. Carmex falsely promises to speed or promote the healing process, shorten the cold sore cycle, and those that merely offer temporary relief of symptoms.
