Let's face it. Protein shakes are often a gamble when it comes to taste, texture, and satisfaction. Carnation Essentials are more along the snack size, and that's perfect for me. I can drink one as an evening snack, or mix with a half cup of vanilla greek yogurt for more of a protein boost, or add fruit or seeds or both for a substantial smoothie. Very versatile! The name Essential is very appropriate.

I buy these smoothies for my loved one with dementia, she goes Mmmm every time she drinks one. These smoothies provides good nutrition when she's not eating well.

My 4-year-old son LOVES these. He has a slight milk allergy (basically just a runny nose / rash), but these contain little enough milk protein that he has no reaction. They’re a good source of protein in the mornings now that he can’t have his glass of milk

The drink is my grandaughter's go to drink every morning. It supplements her breakfast. She loves the taste and it is filling until she has lunch. The fruit, protein and 21 vitamins and minerals make it a quick and easy choice to make readily available for her. The energy boost allows her to be ready for class.

perfect for the day time, fill in drink. very filling, i think, good for appetite filling As well. not overly sweet, excellent flavor, i thought pricing reasonable as well. i started them to help with added protein and for the muscle care

This tastes great and has less sugar then the original. My daughter actually prefers this one's flavor to the other ones. And as for someone giving a lower rating because it has a hair less protien then the original, that's ridiculous. There is real fruit in these and they are not advertised as protein shakes. I am definitely buying many more of these. Hopefully they will get other flavors as well!

strawberry banana definitely don't taste amazing but compared to other smoothies in the past it's probably the best one I had yet but I have to sip on it to tolerate it but for someone who has a bad immune system and has a hard time getting the nutrients I need this is a perfect meal replacement for me when I just don't have the energy to make a full meal or eat

Tastes like they took a smoothie and put a bunch of ground up vitamins in it.

These are terrible. Do not recommend. Tastes nothing like a smoothie. The texture is chalky and the taste is just disgusting.

I took an extra star off because the name makes it seem like a perfect homemade smoothie. I mean, fruit and protein right? Well, what's the healthiest thing in fruit? It's FIBER and this sugar-filled mess has none. How bout protein? This liquid candy bar has 5 grams of protein. That's real light. Carnation's own Instant Breakfast has double that. Then too their high protein version has 3 X the protein. Iin short, get the other Carnation breakfast drinks, not this.
