Carolina Abo-Rh Typing With Synthetic Blood Kit Refill

The blood typing kit I used in the past has been discontinued so I needed a new one. This one is much easier for my 3rd graders to use - only one drop of blood - and the clotting is easy to see. They enjoyed the activity. And it came with the correct answers unlike other kits.

I bought the full kit many years ago and found that the blood samples contained two of the same blood type. This new kit is so much better since it has one of each blood type. My students are going to love this.

Blood typing is a great anatomy lab that allows the kids to simulate an actual medical test that would be done in a hospital. The directions are simple. The typing always comes out as it should as long as the kids remember to clean the plates between tests and use new stirring sticks for each. Always make sure the antisera and synthetic blood are fresh. They do not always work well after more than 6 months.

this is a refill for me, but if you get the main kit, it's a perfect into lab for genetics, can serve several grade levels, and you can mix it up in an activity on probability, forensics, whatevs...

Works very well without the hassle of using real blood.

This is a very good blood typing experience, very safe also. I gave this 4 stars because we have run out of the anti-sera before we run out of blood samples to test. This has happened every year that I have used the kit. In previous years I had some anti-sera bottles left over from a previous teacher (also had blood samples but did not use old blood samples). There needs to be 2 bottles of the anti-sera in the kit, please.

The feed back that I have received from our instructors is that this blood typing kit is of the most realistic that they have had to work with. The one problem we have is that we run out of the blood before we run out of the antiserum. More blood in the kits would be a great improvements.

This kit works well, but the anti-D serum seems to go bad more quickly than the anti-B and anti-A, so just be aware of that. The artificial blood also stops working. However, when they are fresh these work WAY better than other brands we have tried.
