Indentured Servant in Revolutionary Salem, MA
Great story, set in Revolutionary Era Salem (begins 1779), about an Indentured Servant named Nathaniel Bowditch. Bowditch rose from servitude in a Salem, MA sail loft to authorship of "The American Practical Navigator", often called "the Sailor's Bible". An inspiring biography and sea yarn. Winner of the 1956 Newbery Medal. Middle School level or good read-aloud.

Excellent Book 📚📚📖📖
Nat's method of 'active learning'—writing out every problem, translating difficult texts to truly understand them, and never moving past a concept until it was mastered—is incredibly inspiring.
