My Cascade Mountain Tech Pop-Up Lantern & Flashlight, Light Output 300 Lumens is easy to use and really convenient to have around my house. It can be used as both a lantern and a flashlight, it has a pop-up design, and can be operated with one touch. It is comfortable to hold and sits steady on my table when used as a lantern. It shines bright and illuminates well, as both a lantern and a flashlight. It will be really great to have in case any strong thunderstorms knock out our power this summer. It seems to be very durable, and no tools are needed to change out the (included) batteries. This lantern/flashlight would be perfect to keep in an emergency kit.
This lamp is really light so it's awesome for packing it for camping. It gives off a lot of light , you can use the lamp part or the top light as a torch. It can be compacted also for easier storage and travel. It's a handy device to have around the house for projects hat require some extra light or as an emergency light in case of a power outage etc. Its great that it takes AA batteries as these are easier to come by. It's a nifty lamp so I'm happy with the item and quality.
Everyone should have a few of these for emergencies. I live in an area where trees fall and knock out power often. This lantern takes a dark home into the light until the electricity is restored. Having a few of them around the house is a necessity. If you live where hurricanes and other weather conditions can take out the power having multiple sources of light should be considered, especially if you have children or pets. This lantern is light in weight and takes up very little room in a linen closet, under the kitchen sink, or placed in a drawer. Years ago I used to take my girls camping and the typical camping lanterns were too heavy for them to carry around. With this lantern, the night runs to the site restroom would have been easier in the dark. Keep one near your electric panel or in your mechanical utility room. I have one in my car now.
I really like my little battery operated lantern. It would work perfectly in the event of a power outage which I'm worried about since my home is entirely electric. A generator would be better but this I'm sure would come in handy in the short term. It's compact and well made
The Cascade Mountain Tech Pop-Up Lantern & Flashlight, Light Output 300 Lumens, Battery Size AA (included) u2013 Light Grey is by far the BEST lantern/flashlight i have ever seen! It is blindingly bright either way you use it. Great for camping or walking your dog at night.
I wanted something to use for both camping and in-house emergencies for power outages and this pop-up lantern from Cascade Mountain does the trick. My favorite feature is the pop-up functionality as this saves a lot of space compared to a standard lantern. I also like the dual functionality that it can be used either as a lantern or a standard flashlight. The strap is a little annoying but that's easily removed if you don't want it in your way. The batteries are also included so that's a nice bonus.
The Cascade Mountain Tech Pop-Up Lantern & Flashlight, Light Output 300 Lumens, Battery Size AA (included) u2013 Light Grey is a great addition to any household. It's great to have on hand for emergencies or to store in a garage or attic for that extra light. It would also be great to add to a camping pack as well. I love that this comes with batteries, not already installed but extra in the package. I wish more companies did this! I can't wait to gift this to my son.
What a dandy little lantern! Very lightweight, compact, and versatile. Pull apart to expose the bright lantern, press the on/off switch to use as a flashlight, or use with both lights on for maximum illumination. I have not used it enough to comment about battery life. I wish I'd had this when we were tent camping; what a difference it would have made!
This lantern has a creative design, and is a great starter lantern for anyone going on a camping trip. Some features I enjoy about the lantern: * It is very bright, even in the daylight. The package warns you not to look directly at the lantern, and I'd advise against it as well. I'm going to keep this around the house for our summer monsoon season, when the power sometimes goes out. I suspect it will have no trouble providing adequate light for a whole room. * It doubles as a flashlight: kind of a wide, bulky flashlight, but a flashlight nonetheless. Anything that serves two purposes is more desirable in my book. * Lightweight: weighs 10.3 ounces (including the batteries) There are a few things that could be improved: * Battery life in lantern mode: the package says it will only last 5 hours when using it as a lantern, so be aware of this and bring extra batteries. (lasts 15 hours in flashlight mode) * Unscrewing the compartment to put the batteries in felt a little sketchy — like I might break or strip something. This makes me wonder how long the lantern will last. Overall, a good basic lantern for someone just be starting out with camping/backpacking, or as something to keep around the house for occasional power outages.
This lantern isn't my favorite. It's bright and functions well for illuminating spaces with either the lantern or the directed light. But it's almost impossible not to blind yourself with the lantern. You go to pull it open, and end up looking directly at the light as you do so. And even having it set up in a room, you have to be careful not to look at it or it'll disturb your vision too. Some sort of shade or diffuser would have been very helpful here. Otherwise, seems fine. It does feel kind of cheap and like it won't take much of a beating. The handle is helpful, but it does get caught when you close the lantern if you're not careful. If the price is right for what you want, go for it, it'll work fine. But it's not my first choice.
