Fabulous for light trekking during a family camping event. This after rehabilitation of both spaining ankles a year before. Nice for the stabilty "just because"! Folding them during a campfire but pulling them out to walk away... priceless!
We haven't used these poles yet, so this is more of an unboxing review. I had a set of Cascade Mountain telescoping carbon poles for years, so I'm familiar with the brand and like it. Like others, we got these poles for travel and need the folding capability to fit them in small suit cases. The poles appear well made. The folding/locking mechanism looks very solid and effective. The poles feel sturdy and are light enough. There's a slight rattle from inside the handles which I think is part of the mechanism and not a flaw. The challenge we have for travel is we only carry on bags so the poles need to get through security. It's not clear if they will or not. TSA now allows walking sticks with "blunt tips" but doesn't define what that means. I asked Cascade Mountain if they had any reports and they did not. I spoke with TSA and described the tips and asked if that met their definition of "blunt". They said it did, but the regs also say the final call is up to the TSA person standing in front of you at the time. We'll see.
Purchased these Trekking poles in January and took them on a trip to the Patagonia where I put them to the test. Durable, light weight, compact, rugged design and great price! Love everything about these poles. Tried several other typed of poles and found the steel cable design was a perfect fit for what I was looking for.
Absolutely worth the money!! Sturdy, easy adjustable, great to pack and travel with.
Recently I upgraded a set of my old hiking poles with a new set of Cascade poles which incorporate a steel cable instead of a string cable. The old poles required screwing the poles together in order to lock them into place. The new poles no longer require this step. The new design is simple to operate, less likely to break and very easy to adjust.
I like these, I have been using ski pole for walking but have a trip & wanted something that will fit in a small suitcase for traveling light. Well made, assembly is a snap. A bit heavy but I appreciate something substantial. Plus if Nordic walking for exercise, the added weight just adds to the workout.
Bought 2 sets of poles for wife and I in Oct 2024. They are an AWESOME great value! In Nov, we flew from North Carolina to hike the great park scenes in Utah, Colorado and Arizona. We are 65+, and the Cascade Mtn Tech poles were terrific to fly with in our suitcases, carry in our packs, and use every day. These poles made our hikes (6-10 miles/day) so memorable! Very happy we purchased this remendous product! 5 stars!
I have had a set of the regular poles for several years and love them but wanted the convenience of being able to fold them. I love the new folding poles and the ease of using them.
Better engineered than expected. More secure than standard telescoping poles. Shortest length perfect for my 5'6" height. Might not be best selection if you are shorter
