I suffered from a spinal cord injury several months ago and I'm trying to regain function. I opted for these trekking poles as opposed to the forearm crutches. I use these daily to maneuver around and as a part of my physical therapy when I'm not in a wheelchair. Very happy with the quality of the poles as well as the accessories.
Cascade Mountain Tech's best product hands down is their trekking poles. I have been an avid hiker for a while now and have always protected my feet, hips and knees with a pair of trekking poles from CMT. My old pair didn't even wear out yet, I just bought this set because the pattern is cool and I liked the idea of having a spare set for friends/family/backup. I've hiked a large variety of terrain, mileage, and weather and I've never had a pole fail.
I love the new poles. I am 62 and about 265 pounds, and I depend on my poles to keep balance and help me up the hills. After my first hike with these, I am confident they will be strong enough to support me, so if you are not as fat, they should serve you well. The camera attachments work excellently, and now I can leave my tripod at home for most trips. Well made, great price, and all the accessories. I am pleased with this purchase.
These trekking poles are great for anything from a casual hike, to skiing. I also use this trekking pole and it's attachments to shoot a rifle off of. Great all around product. Highly recommended.
I'm 5'6" 165 and this pole if fantastic for hiking. I feel very safe and confident even in rough terrain. However as a monopod absolutely not. At best it's a selfie stick for a smart phone. I would not consider putting a Nikon D850 with a 70-200 2.8. As a monopod it is only rated at 3 pounds hence the 1 star as a monopod.
