They stay up!

Carole48 September 14, 2019

The flies drive my horse crazy, but I have never tried fly boots, because the ones I've seen on the horses at our barn look uncomfortable and inefficient. My trainer suggested I try some, so I checked out what Smartpak carries. I was attracted to the Cashel guards because of the way they are fitted around the hoof & pastern. We always use Cashel fly masks, so I trusted the quality. They are easy to put on & adjust, they stay up, and my horse must find them comfortable because she doesn't even seem to notice that they are on. Yay! I've had them only a month, but durability wise, so far, so good.

Best Fly Boots i've tried!!!

Shiraros316 June 17, 2019

I have a gelding with 4 stockings who won't stomp the flies, so he gets bitten up so badly he has bloody legs and swarms of flies come back. I've tried other fly boots that worked to stop flies, but by morning after a night of turnout, they had slunk down all the way and weren't so effective. These stay put!! The contour around the bone helps keep them in place and I haven't had a single problem. I was hesitant at first because I was worried the stiffer material (which keeps them standing up) would cause rubs, but we're good so far!! Would definitely recommend these to anyone with a horse who needs fly boots as bad as mine. Love the color options too :)

These boots are amazing!

williamsg June 6, 2019

I've had these for over a year, and they still look brand new. I hose them off after each use, and throw them in my washing machine at the end of the season, super easy to take care of. They are easy to put on, and actually stay on/up. I have had no issues with these slipping or moving around, both in turnout and in the barn. They are super lightweight and breathable, so there's no worry about the legs overheating. I have a size large, and they fit the front legs of both of my nearly 17hh TB's and my stocky 15hh Quarter Horse.

Will keep buying

Jaws June 16, 2022

I have been using these fly boots since 2018. My horse absolutely hates flies and was quickly loosening her shoes from stomping so much. These are now something we just can't live without! These fly boots stay put and hold up pretty well. I originally bought the WB size due to my horse's height but they were a little too big on the front. She wears bell boots so that helped keep them up. I eventually got a second smaller set and used the WB size ones on the back. I have just replaced that original set of WB size boots this summer. My horse wears these 24/7 from May to October. I got two and a half summers out of the front set that I bought in 2019. My favorite thing about these is that they come down over the top of the hoof. My horse has scratches over a large portion of her hind coronet bands and pasterns and these boots cover the area well. They are lightweight and don't seem to over heat her legs even in the hottest weather. They only have minimal lining in the fetlock area to prevent rubbing and the rest is mesh.

Cashel Fly Leg Guards are a LIFESAVER!!! My 35 yea

Maia March 29, 2019

Cashel Fly Leg Guards are a LIFESAVER!!! My 35 year old gelding is sensitive to the bugs. Last summer they started making sores on his legs. These guards are so easy to apply and comfortable to wear. He wore them all summer, just removing to clean them every so often. They held up super well. Great product awesome company, love their fly masks too. My guy wears the long one which covers the nose. Thank you, Cashel! With love and lots of gratitude, Maia

Product stays put.

Sandi May 27, 2018

My horse has to wear fly wraps 24/7. These are phenomenal except that I can only use them on her front legs because they are too short for back legs and leave too much bare leg exposed for flies to chomp on so I have to use different brands on her back legs. They hardly move at all, no sheepskin to get soggy and heavy, don't fall down, and cover the entire pastern area. Please tell Cashel to make rear leg options or just taller in general. Or actually I guess I can go to their website now and tell them!

These are the best!

Barbl123 August 17, 2020

To be honest, this is my second pair of these boots. My first pair are 4 years old, and after much use one of the tabs pulled loose. While I had a friend stitch it , I had a coupon to use so decided to get a second pair, so now I have a spare! I got the cob size as my girl is dainty, and they fit perfectly. They stay up very well (I've seen reviews of others that don't) and soften up for comfort. Great product, great price!

sag a bit, but hold up well

Kristen May 6, 2020

I've been using these for a little over a month, and overall, I think they are a fairly good product. They do scrunch down a bit, but only about an inch or two. My horse got a ton of fly bites on her lower forelegs last summer, so many that I would find blood droplets on her hooves. No fly spray provided full-time protection. I have not observed this since she started wearing these boots. She seems comfortable in them, and I don't see her stomping flies when she's wearing them.

Pretty, buuut....

Pepperpotts July 25, 2020

These arrived and I was thrilled. They worked amazingly, for a short time. Two out of the four purchased frayed and became useless. I don't like writing negative reviews, as I tend to keep them to myself. However, I thought you guys should know. Not as durable as they claimed. Never purchased fly guards before, but Cashel is a well known brand so I fig, why not. Sorry guys, love ya, it this one sadly missed the boat for me......sigh!

Does not fit.

MSwilley April 28, 2025

Does not fit. Ordered draft size. Would fit thick legged thoroughbred but not a draft. If you own a Belgian, Percheron, or other draft, these will not fit.
