Great all around calculator.

Anonymous October 9, 2025

I have had the odler version of this calculator for upwards of 25 years. I saw this one and had to have it. I love the larger display and texture of the front panel. The slide on cover snaps securely in place and won't fall off. The unit does not have a battery and works in low light conditions. The calculator is easy to use and includes a modes layout on the back, although it can be somewhat hard to see. I like the colors on the front but the white cover can become dirty and need frequent cleaning, however, it is aesthetically pleasing. The size of it fits easily in a front pocket or purse. It's easy to hold in the hand and depending on the size of your hands, can be operated one handed. The price of the unit is about on par for the features it has.

Good solid engineering calculator.

Old style engineering calculator. No fancy formulas or programming features just a good solid calculator. The old fx-300 had better key placement. This is the closest match I can find.

Small, powerful and inexpensive classic Casio Calc

James June 8, 2025

I have used scientific calculators for almost a half century, starting with a Texas Instruments TI-10 with , -, *, /, 1/x, x^2, and sqroot(x), all the way to a TI-92. The TI-92 Graphing is extremely difficult for simple and non-repetitive calculations. So a Full Function Scientific calculator works much better. The Casio fx-260 Solar fits the bill at a value price. A comparable calcuator would be a TI-30Xa (Solar or not). Both this and the Casio will provide te same capabilities and yield the same results, so the differences are more subjective. The biggest difference is the layout of the keys and their functions. The TI-30Xa is better in this regard. The Casio fx-260 has a less intuitive layout. Things like frequently used functions, like "1/X", is hidden behind/under another key forcing the use of the "2nd" key. Also, the "C" (clear) and "AC" (all clear) seem redundant. On the plus side, the Casio is small and powerful for students or anyone solving improvised science or engineering problems.
