I bought this watch to replace an older one that I had for more than 10 years. The old one was not solar powered, but in all other respects identical. I'm not a big jewelry type guy. The style of this watch is fine for me. It keeps perfect time (so far - only had it for 2 weeks). If it is as rugged as the last, I will be very pleased. So far, so good.
This is another one of the best watches made by Casio. The 2004 model I replaced with this one still works great but the top composite on the face of the watch has chipped off and exposed one of the setting buttons, making it too easy to get knocked off of the watch. I was going to send it in for repair but the parts have been discontinued. I have never had to replace the rechargeable battery on the old model and expect this new model will give me the same great of service as the last 12 years of service I got from my old model.
I bought this as a gift for someone, following extensive online research. Though I have no personal experience with this watch, I must still give it five stars because it could not have been more appreciated by the recipient. The Casio model number of this watch is GWM500A-1. For those who might prefer a more dressy watch, model number MTGM900DA-8 is essentially the same watch but with a much heavier stainless steel bracelet-type band, instead of the black resin band that comes on this model.
This is an awesome watch. I bought the same model 30 years ago only with a steel bracelet & never had a moments trouble with it. It still works & looks fine. I bought this one just to have a little variety in looks. Yes l would recommend it to anyone who desires perfection.
This is the third watch of this type I have owned. The previous two had served time in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The style is slightly different from previous models but this time piece is incredibly durable and accurate. I purchased a second one in the event this one should find an early demise!!
Overall, a very good watch for all-purpose use. I wear it to the office and outdoors. I also wear it when doing yard work. The features are very numerous and beneficial. Since I travel across several time zones , switching to these other time zones is a great feature. I cannot recall if the watch changes automatically. Even if it does not, I can easily change it manually. I also tend to get it wet when fishing, but it resists water very well. The watches stylishness is matched by its ruggedness and toughness. I got it at a reduced price (<$100). That is a fair price as I do not consider this watch to be worth over $100. The only “bad” aspect about this watch is the battery change-out. One must go to a watch dealer to have it done. This is not a do-it-yourself job. There are too many complexities to it. I do recommend using a true watch battery dealer and not a franchise facility as I tried this once and the teenagers working in the back lost a screw on my first one (which is the reason I had to get a new one). Humidity crept it and corroded the internals of my first watch of this type. I now use it for spare parts. Plus, the rubber ring/washer must be placed into the correct position exactly. Otherwise, moisture will get it and lead to internal corrosion.
It's a solid choice my one that's 13-year-old is still working it's just part of the band broke off and I can't see the black letters anymore on the case much.
The Casio Men's Solar-Atomic Watch is everything that it is claimed to be. It keeps accurate time\date since it automatically checks the time almost every day. It keeps the battery charged even in lower light conditions. It is comfortable to wear but is much thicker than I expected it to be. I would prefer the traditional way of attaching the watch band to the watch in place of the manner by which this watch band is attached. This watch and the way that the band is attached is obviously very rugged. I have owned and have been using this watch almost every day for the last several months. The things about this watch that I consider to be shortcomings are my personal preferences. It is a fine watch that I would recommend if you want a time piece that is hyper accurate and is easy to set up initially. Set it up once, turn on the features that you want and that is it. Every thing else is taken care of automatically. If you are out of the country so that the watch cannot automatically adjust the time from the atomic clock in Colorado. This watch is rated to maintain accuracy to within less than one second over a six month period. The manual that came with the watch is very descriptive and is easy to understand when you do this initial setup.
I've only had the watch for about three weeks but am already very impressed. The only problem I had was with the atomic time. I tried the manual mode to set the time after I opened it and had no luck. After several attempts I gave up and assumed the watch was broken. The watch is designed to check atomic time very 24 hrs and at 5 am the next morning it set itself and has reset every day since. I like the design and look of the watch and was very satisfied with the price. This is my second g-shock watch and if it's as good as my first one it will last for years and years. My first one is still working 8 years after I bought it I just can't remember the last place I took it off!
As a timekeeping watch goes it's great, It adjusts automatically every night following the directions. I put it on the stand it came with and place it in the window each night and it has been adjusting by 12:04 AM each night. and it keeps time flawlessly. My only gripe is the alarms and the countdown timer, the beeps are so faint, I have to hold the watch close to my ear to hear the sounds which makes them useless. I may be 69 but there is nothing wrong with my hearing. I've had other Casio watches and could hear the alarms from a room away. Other than the sound of the alarms the watch is great and the price was right. I've only had this watch for a week so we'll see how it is after some time has elapsed.
