This Castello Gourmet Gouda Cheese is a favorite for our household. We use it making charcuterie. The flavor is a great-tasting, mild and creamy cheese with a rich, buttery slightly sweet flavor and smooth texture, perfect for recipes or cheeseboards. It a definite staple if you like cheese.
This Gouda cheese is very creamy melts well it is a semi soft cheese. very mild flavor. I just wish they would age it another year instead of just 12 months.
My husband and daughter love this as a snacking cheese. It also melts really well when using to make grilled cheese sandwiches or as a topper for cheeseburgers!
This Goudal is very good and the ingredients are clean it's little salty and I have to watch my salt intake because I have high cholesterol and a prediabetes I'm also like to intolerant but I look forward to when I can buy this again
This mild, semi-soft Gouda tastes delicious! It has a smooth, creamy texture that I enjoy eating with unsalted pretzels or crackers, corn tortillas, or fruit. It is a quality Gouda that rivals more expensive offerings.
It has been some time since I've eaten Gouda cheese. I was happy to see it at my Walmart and even happier with the delicious and classy taste. I remember this cheese was for special occasions. Now, I will mark the winter of my life sharing this wonderful flavor anytime with family and guests.
Most Goudas are aged, with crystals, and more brittle. This is a younger cheese, more akin to a Babybel texture, without the strong flavor profile that Gouda is known for, but since Babybel is widely beloved (more than cheddar) worldwide, I think this would have mass appeal. It's also a great price point for this American take on popular European cheese. It's a Wisconsin cheesemaker, but it's a cut above the standard fare.
This Wisconsin Gouda is close to the real thing. I lived in Holland for several years and I know what real Gouda tastes like. This is as good as US made gets to the real thing. The wax seal allows it to age without mold. Also, Wisconsin's farmland is very very similar to the Dutch countryside which probably helps.
This gloss caused my lips to swell and the skin turned red around my mouth. In addition, the actual “color” was not clear but pale peach like.
I only got it to use as one of my cheeses to make macaroni for Thanksgiving because my mom used it last year as one of her cheeses for Christmas in her macaroni(which I was attempting to recreate as much as possible). The wax was awful! I had a hard time trying to pick out the wax from the grated cheeses. I had an even harder time trying to cut and grate this one! I just threw the remainder of it away. I don't know how my mom did it lol.
