I've been using this brand since the 1990s. Yes, I've used other brands as well to experiment. This reputable brand is known for doing a great job against viscosity and thermal breakdown for years and years. You will save time and money with the Castrol Edge Extended Performance Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil for having one of the longest life additives in the industry. Tested and proven. Do your research, see for yourself, and find out the truth. Most importantly, regardless of what brand you use, follow your owner's manual and change your oil and filter in a timely manner to protect your investment and for a trouble-free years of service.
Ive always used Castrol Gtx Oil . Its top quality and completely competitive prices. Premium Brand is what you should use in your vehicle .
This is top of the line motor oil at a reasonable price.
Exceptionally of the product.
This is the only approved motor oil for Volvo and an easy to do oil change saving $s vs. dealer prices!
I used Castrol for many years with good results. One 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan had 294,000 when I traded it in for a 2005 Kia Sedona. The latter had about 185,000 miles when I traded it in, not for engine problems, but some other issues. The first minivan I had was a 1985 Plymouth Voyager, with a 4-cylinder engine that had 186,000 when I traded it in, engine was fine, other issues not. My only issue is that, in the past, the engine color would remain almost the same, not very dark, almost like new. Recently, I had been using Valvoline full synthetic oil. There does NOT appear to be a difference between the two. They both turn dark by the time the mileage reaches 5,000 miles. ???
I prefer to change my car's oil by myself at home. I had really bad experience once at dealer's and ever since I started doing it my own. I'm doing this since 4-5 years now. The Castrol edge extended performance is so far so best oil for the car's performance. Definitely recommend.
This is a trusted brand and is great oil. I have used Castrol for many years and vehicles have always performed well with no issues ever. All the major Brands are plenty good probably most important is to change them per the manufacturer's schedule(or before) I do mine 5000 or less so no worries. Can't beat Walmart for price or service.
Another retailer had the item at a lower price but my Walmart $$ offset the difference.
I used this in my Civic SI and did the whole 20,000 miles(maybe 18-19k), which saying it now, sounds very stupid. I knew at the time it wasn't a good idea but figured the guarantee would cover any issues. 20,000 miles in, I started having very bad issues. Grinding, loss of power, boost leak. Long story short, direct injection engines have a small issue with fuel leaking into the oil. Even within 7,000 miles you can have issues with too much fuel, so after 20,000 it's possible your oil could be so thin that it won't serve much protection in your engine. My turbo bearings did not receive enough lubrication and they wore down within 20k miles, which they're supposed to last hundreds of thousands of miles. My turbine degeloped shaft play and it caused the blades to swing and crack the turbo housing, also causing the grinding sound. My repair is fully covered under warranty since oil dilution is a known issue in civics, but for this reason I would not recommend this oil to anyone who has a 4 cylinder, turboed engine. Replacing your oil sooner is WAY cheaper than replacing engine components. A crack in a turbo is bad but it could have been worse. I could have blown my engine or caused serious damage which may not have been covered. I'm sure this company has fine print somewhere saying they aren't responsible for engine damage if you don't follow your car manual. Just don't use this stuff.
