Cat Craft Carpet Scratching Post, Gray

My older cat loves these posts. She uses them all of the time, and doesn't really like more expensive scratching posts. I wish Walmart or the manufacturer would sell "refills" of the post portion, since they do get torn up after 3-6 weeks. But we really like them.

Having recently adopted a new kitten I set about buying the toys needed to keep it from ransacking my house and everyone in it. I was shocked by how much most scratching posts cost, I looked into less expensive options. Most were over priced pieces of coregated cardboard that more resembled left over packing material than durable cat toy able to withstand the terrible destruction that is a 3 month old kitten. Just when I thought that I'd have to pay $30 for a piece of junk I stumbled across this gem. It is well constructed, has a bobbly-thing on the top, and even has screws to attach the base to the stand. The carpeting is neither too coarse or too fine and it is heavy enough to stay upright when our little ball of terror flings himself across the room at it. It is definitely worth the price, now if we could only get him to pay attention for longer than three seconds to constantly use it we'd be all set. Baby animals do not have the best attention spans.

My cat loves these. My problem is that it doesn't last very long. I bought a lot of these. My cat shreds them with his claws which is great. My only problem is that they don't last as well as they should. However I would recommend them for people to try as I said my cat loves these.

It's very attractive but the base is not very stable. I have a cat who we'll just say is a bit exuberant! He saw a new scratching post sitting there and hit it hard in his excitement! Over it went. After that, he wanted nothing more to do with it. My other cat gave it a scratch, walked away. She doesn't like it. Sorry Walmart, but you'll be getting this back.

It is not blue. It's 2 tone brown. It has fake fur on the bottom instead of carpet and the top half is indoor outdoor carpet. It is ok, just not what it should have been. I got the 2 story cat condo at the same time and it was the same way and smashed as well.

This broke so easily from one little kitten playing with it. The post came off of the base. We went to the hardware store and bought a large washer and replaced the one it came with to hold it in place better so our kitty is still able to use it. Really, it's that simple to fix - so why not just use something more sturdy to make it and sell it rather than selling something that will break so easily?!

Not a great scratching post. My cat is not very interested in scratching this material or in the ball on top. Other cats may like the fleecy fabric or ball better. There weren't a lot of options in the store that day, but it said customizable so I purchased it thinking I could change those out if she didn't like. However, the main issue is that with the way it gets put together it ends up being very flimsy. Would not recommend.

It's easy to put together ... but the base is too small so the kitty cat knocks it over really easily. Not functional for scratching. Also, instructions say that cat shouldn't play with it unsupervised -- which makes me think that pieces can be swallowed....

I've been buying posts for 30 years and this is the worst post that I've ever seen. It's nothing like the picture! I'd never have bought it if the picture was accurate. The carpet is so thin that after less than two weeks, its practically worn through and that's under very light usage since a) i have a half dozen posts around and b) this post is in a somewhat out of the way place. This carpet is so thin that I think, sincerely, that wrapping the core in a piece of felt might be more durable. I strongly, strongly recommend that others not waste their money on this product. I'm already looking for a replacement since this one is so bad.
