It works very well. It took our cat 4 days to adjust with our help.
I installed the cat door in my heated garage . The door that I installed it in is a fire rated steel door. Naturally I had to use longer screws that are not supplied with the cat door. The unit did not work so I took out the sensor bar to trouble shoot its operation. Upon removing the sensor bar it would work and activate the little anchor tab. I reinstalled and voila I have an amazing door that gives the cat and I freedom from having to open and close the shop door : ) For the winter I plan to spray silicone(biodegradable) to stop the flap from freezing. Cheers
Was very easy to install. However, the screws that were included stripped off in the insulation. Was very frustrating, but replaced them with my own.. and the door is amazing. My cat is 16 yrs old and had it figured out in an evening. Love it ! Perfect for what we need it for.
We just got this item last week, still too early to report the final outcome of it. But , I can tell you on the 2nd days, my husband have to take the magnetic off the door. Because the cats got scare to go in and out , due to the clicking magnetic noise. I am going to take off the magnetic for a short time, to get the cats comfortable without it . Then, I will try to put the magnetic device back to the door . Pray for this will not scared them this time.
The magnetic latch works better with a strong battery, however I can see cold weather may not allow entry...which would be a big problem. We disengaged the latch and just hope skunks etc can't figure out the door!
Don't try to use included screws, they are super cheap, and the heads twist off with slight pressure. Any draft from heat escaping the house and the door hangs open. Hangs open half the time anyway. The cat must get the collar magnet in exactly the right spot and then immediately bolt through, or the door will lock again and not open. Removing it and buying a different brand.
defective, on a diff seller site it says FREQUENT RETURN, i had the same on for 15 years, never a problem with door opening or closing, this one, WHEN IT DECIDES TO WORK, the flap sticks and stays half open, something happened, i assume the door not opening all way or not at all, my cat who used the same brand for 15 years will not come in house anymore, i have to open door for him, defeating purpose of magnetic door, and customer service years ago told me wrong info. i had to buy replacement part, didnt eork when i called i was told i was told wrong and i could not return the replacement part, even though i was told wrong info. customer service on this door, not helpful, giving me runaround, i have to return and order another one and hope that one works, i cant have a whole in my door and need magnetic so farrel cats from nextdoor do not come in. fyi the microchip ones only work with ? 15 digit numbers, not ones with 10 digit or with a letter with numbers, it says WORKS WITH MOST CHIPS, but i called and my 10 digit was a NO GO, VERY VERY DISSAPOINTED with my door, first one fine, this one NOT WORKING PROPERLY
Only opens one way
This door is horrible. It is inconsistent. One time your cat can get in right away all be it they have to bang head literally into door before it unlocks. 9/10 it wont unlock and they try and try and cant get back in. This defeats purpose of paying to have it installed. They are now scared to use it. Another issue is that it is not a rectangle like most animal doors. The top is a rectangle and bottom is rounded giving cats less room to get through it. It also makes it more of a pain to cut out door. The old kind used to be rectangle and had magnetic collars. This one has dangling magnets you put on their collar. Now think about how crazy that is. The magnets stick to anything metal where they dangle. If you love your cat and do not want yhem to be afraid to use cat door Insuggest you DO NOT BUY this.
Do not waste your time buying this. We just bought it and your cat has to be in the exact spot for the latch to work and fast as a ninja to make it through the flap before it deactivates and wont open. It was a waste of time installing it and 87$ to get it here. I repeat DO NOT BUY!!
