i used this cat flap for my bedroom door as my pregnant ragdoll got locked out my bedroom so she clawed at my carpet to get in there ive included how thick my door is as i couldn't find a review with this so hope this helps this is the medium cat flap even tho it looks small and fits my very large pregnant ragdoll

This is my 2nd Cat Mate cat door. I use it in my kitchen door going to the basement where I keep the litter box, food and water. I'm so thankful I was able to find one just like I had so I didn't have to make any adjustments to the opening. The old door broke when I was cleaning the window. I'll be more gentle the next time!

Bought this for my cat to use to go into the garage to use the litter box. Door is great and hides a lot of my mistakes cutting into my insulated metal door. Screwed it in and used some white caulk around the edges and it looks amazing. Works really well and I like the locking aspect of it.

Many years I had PetSafe cat door installed for door from garage to house (it was replaced twice due to wear out). The problem was that my door is hollow and slightly less than 2" and the look from garage was to say mildly 'ugly'. Then my cats learnt how to open the lock on this cat door - they claw it until it will slide open and recently they just ripped the slider off completely.So in search for a new door replacement I found this one with door liner (at first I found liner and was thinking to buy liner and PetSafe door again - because the hole already there). I was hesitant because given measurements for 'Cat Mate 4 Way Locking Cat Flap with Door Liner' were slightly larger than PetSafe 2-way lock door, but decided to risk and mentally was preparing myself to sawing project for the larger hole.To my surprise (and joy) this door fit exactly to existing hole from PetSafe. Installation was easy and the door liner looks amazing. The other good feature that this door has dark gray transparent flap and cats can see through it if somebody is waiting to jump on them from the other side. Not all cats accepted it equally easy - some were very cautious to go through the new door, but after couple day they using it without any problems.In addition, I have huge 18.4 pounds cat - he can go through this door also without problems - just slowly sliding through it.Locking mechanism works great, but right now it is difficult to say how long it will hold (the locks are from garage side).Overall I am very happy and very satisfied with quality and features of this product.

This is not a flimsy indoor cat door. This is heavy duty enough to use on an outside door, as there is weather stripping all around it and the magnet that holds the door in place is heavy duty. SO, this did not quite work for our kitty on an inside door (through no fault of the product). The magnet was way too strong for her to open. So my husband drilled out the magnet (not easy, but not impossible) and now we are happy with the door! Now that she is older, she may not have had a problem, but we got this and wanted to start using it when she was a kitty.

Great cat door. We actually use it on internal doors so the 4 way lock for us is a bit overkill but purchased based on so many positive reviews. We needed to have a lock feature for cat safety when work was being done at our house and front door was always open.

works just fine but the felt weather stripping fell out right away. it didn't come close to the frame anyway. otherwise, it's great.

I've been buying and installing cat doors for over 25 years, in several different houses. I have no problems with the quality of this one. It is designed for a small cat of average intelligence. A little training is good, combined with the hunger urge. Of course raccoons never have a problem, so don't let them smell or see food inside especially at night. This is a problem with the simplest installation (into a screen). Installation gets progressively more challenging depending on the material, and thickness of the intended pass-through, as you might guess. A cardboard template is provided to define the exact size and shape of the required hole. One one side of this 6-7 inch cardboard is where all the instructions are crammed. These are a series of 8 postage stamp-sized black and white drawings. If you have never attempted this before you would appreciate a few words of explanation as well, including how to adjust the door thickness to suit the thickness of the pass-through. Yes - unlike many other cat doors, this thickness can be as little as virtually zero, to install through a screen. Hint - you will find grooves around the plastic door sleeve, one of which you need to cut through all round, to reduce its thickness.

This cat flab is great once it is installed correctly. The magnet keeps out the cold and my big cat moves in and out of it with ease.Unfortunately it's a bit of a pain to install because the manafacturer does not supply adequate screws. We had to cut the the tunnel piece down to the medium size and the screws were not long enough. My partner had to go out and purchase longer screws and while this comes at minimum expense, it is rather inconvenient. I don't understand why they have bothered supplying screws as they are completley useless! A good DIYer is required I would say which is a shame.In conclusion, if you don't mind a bit of a faf with the screw issue and you are ecperienced at DIY then I would say buy this for your cat as it does a great job once in place. If you want something that comes out of the box and can be popped into place within the hour then don't buy this cat flap.
