Very satisfied with my purchase. Walmart had it the cheapest on the internet and I had waited a while to purchase. Really adds to the immersion of playing Catan. Does take some time to setup and tear-down, but not too bad. Would recommend to any super Catan fan!
This is a great way to make a favorite, much played game new again. The design is so well done and it has held up very well. I just wish there was a 3D expansion pack like the original version.
Been waiting LONG time to grab this version of the game. Fell in love with CATAN when first introduced to it over 15 years ago. It's Monopoly with trading built into the game. I always thought a 3D version would be cool back then. Looking for it led me to another great game - Heroscape. But finally having a 3D version of Catan is a dream come true. The pieces are high quality, easy to assemble, and the box stores them great. And the price is great!
fun game to play with all ages. directions were easy to understand. colors are nice. good for fine motor skills, counting, comparing.
Gave this as a gift to a friend and they absolutely loved it!! Shipping was fast and package came in perfect condition! It is pricey but Walmart always has the best prices. We got it for around $230, which is a steal!!
It's a little pricey but the quality is amazing! purchased it for a Christmas gift for a family member and they loved it! so happy we purchased this and excited to keep playing it!
Makes a very cool gift for a know Catan-lover or a great introduction for newcomers. Highly recommend. High attention to detail on all pieces and all high quality. Should last a long time if properly cared for.
We all love this game and had to get the 3D version as a collector of all things Catan!!! Lol
Great board to play with! It really cones to life!
How much do you love Catan? This version offers a lover of the game a premium experience (and price point)… albeit with drawbacks — which may or not matter to you. The 3D tiles themselves are fairly well-crafted and they connect better than the standard 5th Edition (better alignment with no gaps). The colors and design vary. Some tiles are aesthetically pleasing, while some look a bit bland/grungy (the dominant brown paint comes to mind). The sea border is my standout, but lacks specific placement for boats, unlike the original. Odd. Additionally, the tiles do not have discreet areas to place number discs. In the standard version, everything is flat. Here, they may be wobbly. Which sucks especially if you try to place a robber on them directly (which i like to do). The new premium roads, settlements and cities are a bit mixed. Personally, I don't favor the design of these roads. The settlements and cities are nicer, but at first glance they can appear too similar, which is not a problem with the original wooden pieces. Regardless, if you like Catan. This is Catan with some frills. The cards, dice and such are approximately the same as the base game (personally, the cards don't feel high quality across the board). There is an included card tray, which is an odd omission from base 5th Edition, but is a welcome addition here. I also love the robber. It is my personal favorite piece. Does that make it worth the price tag? If you love Catan and always wanted it to be look more lively, this is it. It's recommended for enthusiasts who want the premium elements. Though there are shortcomings, depending on what it is you are looking for. It is up to you to determine how much (if at all) some of the minutiae affect your enjoyment or value of this item. For me? It is splendid, just… not necessarily must have. The cost is not insignificant. The space it takes up to store isn't either. If you get it, make sure the value is there for you.
