We had mice in the chicken coop, and baited the trap with a tiny smear of peanut butter. In the morning, we had three little mice inside. It's easy to see them, kind to the live mice, and it's easy to let them go down the road. Best and easiest live trap I've ever seen.
I really like this mouse trap. We decided against using the glue boards as we wanted to keep it as humane as possible. First night 2 mice. We have a pond a mile or so from the house. We released them there.
We love these Catchmaster mouse traps! They work great! I just add some peanut butter and close the lid and then put it along the wall. At our old apartment we caught 5 in one. Last night in our garage was the first time setting the trap and I caught one over night. My wife won’t let me kill the mice, so this is a perfect solution. I just drive across the freeway a couple miles away to let them out. They do come with the glue pad, but I don’t use them.
We always get voles in our windows and I do not have the heart to poison them or let them starve. I bought this trap and 15 minutes after putting it down into the window we got it. I had put some food and a bit of straw just Incase they sat in it for a couple hours. Was very easy letting it go out by our trees in the back yard. Hoping to get window covers soon so we no longer get critters falling down them anymore. Would highly recommend if anyone has the same issues.
It really works, but some are sneaky, mouse piled the peanut butter on the lever and it wont go up enough now. So a few know that the lever is down enough to push down with their hands. However the first month I had it, I was catching a field mice a day, sometimes two. We live very close to a wild farm land and they just keep getting in. I bought a second one, but they might of figured that one out too. Still worth it, catching and release, as long as the same ones aren't getting back in.
I wish I could recommend this product. A few years back, it was a catch and release trap you could rely on. The fact that they started including the glue traps should have been a clue. Recently, the mice don't stay caught to be released. Even in brand new traps. One ramp is defective and so that one needs to go right up against the wall in order to catch any mice without the glue trap killing them. Better than dealing with dead mice and glue traps but they need to fix their product.
Unfortunately this item does not work as I would have hoped. I have caught critters with the trap(the bait is gone, poop is there and critter is not) but they are able to free themselves which I did not think was supposed to happen. Upsetting I spent my money on a product that does not work when I really need it to
they get in and eat the bait and get back out somehow? I couldn't bring myself to use the glue traps that came with them though. I had plastic tube catch and release but if I didn't get them right away they chewed though the plastic so I was for sure these metal ones would do the trick, highly disappointed. I don't want to kill them but want them gone.
Total garbage! The plastic on top of the trap is so thin that the mice just pushed it up until it cracked on the corner until they were able to just slide out of the trap, therefore turning it useless. I had to find some metal sheeting myself to replace the plastic with. Don't waste your money.
I had this trap set for two weeks on a kitchen counter where mice were coming at night. They only were able to get on that counter, nowhere else. I cleared everything off the counter except the trap. Tried everything including wearing gloves while handling it so as not to leave a human scent on it, changing its position a few times including putting it against the backsplash for days, adding extra peanut butter bait inside the trap at the end of the entrance tunnel and other places such as by the hole openings in the sides so they could clearly see and smell it, etc. The peanut butter bait was obviously working to attract them because they left their droppings right at both entrances to the trap. There were droppings concentrated around the trap and at the entrances so they clearly were attracted to it and knew where the entrances were (see picture attached). But after two weeks not one mouse entered. I question whether they even can get into it or whether the weight it takes to trigger the mechanism is too high and they cannot get in at all. So the trap was useless. May have made the problem even worse because now they come looking for it. Very disappointed.
