Excellent fountain for my two orange kitties. My boys have used this fountain for about four years and it has been wonderful. I believe the stainless steel bowl and fountain spout has kept them interested and happy to drink regularly. (It can be used as a bubbler but my boys prefer the spout insert that creates the fountain effect. So happy to have the option though. ) Maintenance has been a breeze with the easy Catit app tracking usage for me. It alerts me when to change the filter or clean the pump. It even has an easy to follow slide show to make sure I do it properly. I would order again and highly recommend others to purchase as well.
I totally agree with a review by Edgar - great fountain, lousy motor. It worked fine for about 3 months - my kitty loved it - but after unplugging it for cleaning, it never worked again. Since I have quite a few of the filters left, I am going to buy another one of this model, but maybe I'll pay attention to the warranty this time.
I've had cart fountains for years. I like the design and have never had issues. Decided to upgrade to this for the steel bowl and to be able to see when the fountain is empty. First off, for this price, I assumed it would have a magnetic base or at least an easier way to clean it without having to drag the cord with it. No way to take the exposed cord out either without taking the pump apart. All their competitors have magnetic bases for ease and they're cheaper too. Second, the fountain is incredibly inaccurate. It doesn't tell me if the water refilled and hasn't aside form maybe two times since I've gotten it. Thank god I've always checked anyway otherwise my cats would be out of water and I would be none the wiser. Also, as of late, the filter and pump clean resets on the app will reset the the indicators, but now they just stay at 100%. They've been that way for over two weeks now. Very disappoint in this product, especially since I've loved every other product from them. Save your money for something else because this fountain ain't it. I give it an average review because the fountain itself is nice and the pump works fine.
Although my cat truly loves the fountain but I am giving 3 stars because I have been using for about 1 1/2 years and will probably need to buy my third one do to mechanical difficulties. I bought extra pumps ( which are mostly sold out all the time) some work some don't now I think it is the connection to the USB cable because I have to wiggle it to get it to work. I may be at the point of trying a different brand because of the inconsistent function.
I really want a UV water fountain for my cats, but this one is defective and maybe dangerous? Water is able to get into the threaded connection with the pump/bowl and cause corrosion which destroys the internal pins. It's destroyed two pumps so far before I realized what was happening. Also, mine has this weird yellow staining on the inside of the bowl not related to cleaning or lack there of. Looks like it is coming from a light shining inside the bowl.
We purchased this very expensive water fountain in April. Hasn't even been a full 6 months. The pump stopped working, one of the prongs that connect the pump to the cord inside the fountain came out and stayed in the permanent cord attached inside the unit. Our girls won't drink out of anything else, so we had to purchase another. Regular scheduled maintenance was done every time it was supposed to be. The pump was completely taken apart as per instructions. I couldn't return or exchange the fountain to PetSmart, because it's a 60 day policy. If the fountain is working properly, I give it 5 star. However, it only gets 2 because it broke less than 6 months of having it.
I bought mine a little over a year ago and loved it. I work on machines in construction and realize the importance of maintenance. I change the filter every two weeks and clean the pump the 1st of every month. I have another Catit that has held up for 6 years now. So when I replaced the last fountain I stuck with the brand that seemed to be best an upgraded to the smart fountain. I regret that move, as my old fountain is still running without issue and this one is getting noisy and running like crap. I am trying to find a replacement motor, hoping I got a lemon. But these reviews make me think otherwise now.
I like a lot of Catit products, but this is not one of them. I had the regular Pixi Water Fountain for a year and liked it, but thought the UV-C light would make a good addition by keeping the water cleaner for my cats. First, the product page does not make it clear the the set up for the pump and cord is entirely different from the other Pixi fountain, where electrical components connect inside the water bowl itself (I recall even reading a warning not to disconnect or risk it no longer being water tight). Second, this fountain actually gets filthier than my old one in a shorter timespan. The cord inside the bowl just becomes a nasty home for scum and it is impossible to clean fully because of all of the small ridges at the connection point. The cord in the photos should be white, not orange. The small light is also covered in green algae. This is just two weeks after cleaning it and changing the filter. I'm really quite disappointed with this product and feel like it was a massive waste of money for what was supposed to be an upgrade for the health of my pets.
The light blue light that is supposed to stay on and show you the water level stopped working not even 3 months into having the fountain. Have cleaned how I'm supposed to and the pump will stop working but you can still hear it on. This was a very expensive fountain and shouldn't have to deal with these flaws. Very upset as my three cats were starting to love it.
Small change in motor design Pump impeller spindle has been unnecessary shortened causing it to only support the impeller on one end instead of both ends like the earlier pumps Causing shortened motor life & noise which necessitates early avoidable replacement of a proprietary OEM pump
