I had a feeling these might be great, and they were! These are the best packaged bag of tortilla chips I have ever bought in a store! Yeah! I'm thrilled! I hope Walmart keeps these in stock. They are exactly the same as the ones you get in Mexican Restaurants! I ate them with salsa and sour cream, so I could taste the freshness, flavor %26 crunch. Yum!
New favorite tortilla chip. Bake 400 for a couple minutes and they taste like your favorite Mexican restaurant fresh fried. Add chees and beans. Walmart free same day shipping w/ 35$ order. Don't forget your salsa! I recommend Mateo's medium, so good. Also free shipping with Wally Word. Big $ difference between same day delivery and shipping. FYI
Walmart carrying these chips may be the best thing and the worst thing to happen to Cazo de Oro. I bought them knowing nothing about the company and was amazed at the taste, the crunch, and the value. With my last couple purchases, I've noticed a decline in the quality. The chips are beat up from shipping to the store (it's not from online order pickup), they're darker, and oily at the bottom of the bag. Hopefully this is growing pains from the increased orders they're receiving from Walmart. If it's not, I fear they will lose a lot of customers who aren't willing to pay for sub-standard quality.
These are the closest to authentic tortilla chips I have found in a couple small towns I've lived in. The problem is that they are sooo inconsistent- some bags are full of chewy, rubbery, undercooked chips; other bags are full of slimy grease. Most of the time, there are only a dozen or so usable chips in the bag, IF you're lucky, and the rest are just useless crumbs. Every once in a while, you'll get a bag with cooked, crunchy chips that aren't drenched in grease - but again, not many usable chips for dipping or scooping.
These are the best store-bought tortilla chips out there. Having said that, Walmart has a serious product issue. I keep ordering these via delivery and have been disappointed on multiple occasions due to the condition of its contents. The chips arrive broken and pulverized rendering them inedible! I am precariously close to giving up on these altogether. Zoom in to the picture I have provided.
Something changed. These chips used to be the best and are now one of the worst I've ever had. They are greasy, stale, and don't taste good. Some reviewers mention they are no longer kettle cooked, which might explain the downfall of these chips. I'll be returning these to the store.
These chips used to be KETTLE COOKED, when they were in the 11oz size. These are NOT, NOT, NOT Kettle Cooked, i.e., deep oil fried. If you love Kettle Cooked Potato Chips vs. "regular" , then you know there is a big difference in FLAVOR. This is also true in Tortilla Chips. If you want a real TRUE Restaurant Tortilla Chip, you know that they must be "Kettle" Cooked because that is the only method available at the Restaurants(s). Almost NONE are when STORE bought. These were, but NOT any longer. They are still way better/closer than others, as they are made first into actual finished tortillas and then cooked. But now that cooking is done via sprayed oil/hot blown-air vs. immersed in hot liquid oil vat. The taste difference for the worse is huge. They are no longer special. If you want REAL Restaurant Flavor, you're gonna have to go in-person to a small Hispanic Market (probably have more than 1 brand to choose from). Also can go to Winco and get EL COMAL brand - which are the best ever available in a store, in my opinion.
Tortilla chips were crumbled. The pieces were so small that one could use a spoon or fork to eat them. The bag was 75% air. It says 25% more in the bag they must mean MORE AIR!! As it is ALL chip bags are filled half way with chips and the other half with air. Anyways, I couldn't even put them out for guests. The pictures show proof and the bag is still sealed. Customers are being ripped off.
One bag was damaged upon arrival %26 we just open the 2nd bag %26 the color was off, they were very salty %26 tasted stale
These chips are terrible, stale and no taste. They were all broken into small pieces. Will not buy again for sure.
