Celestron EclipSmart Solar Shades Observing Kit, Black

Like a lot of folks, I thought I had several pairs of eclipse glasses in an old desk drawer but during the last eclipse.....they weren't there! So, with only an hour left before eclipse time, I scrambled to make a simple shadow box and I was able to view the eclipse ......after a fashion. I decided then and there I wouldn't get caught short again so I ordered several pairs of really nice eclipse glasses, stashed them in that old desk drawer and wait patiently for the next eclipse.....fully prepared!

The glasses stayed on great and worked like they said. My granddaughter loved reading all about the solar eclipse.

All is good, now that I found that the 2 pkgs of glasses have 2 sets of glasses in each package. When opening box, it appears that there is only 2 sets of glasses, but actual glasses count is 4. There have been reports that the glasses are short by 2 pair and that might be due to the Celestron's packaging of the glasses. There should be 2 glasses in each package. They do fit well for paper glasses, but the lens area is black, very black and you won't see anything. I tested it by putting a bright flashlight up to the lens and you will see light, be it very dim... viewable, though. Book is also handy, too. Recommend these eclipse glasses kit.

Ordering for this item from Walmart was easier and less complicated than from that other popular on-line order site. The glasses could be purchased from local stores and the solar eclipse preparation information can be accessed on websites but this order from a trusted site made the process a lot easier.

This kit is a great value! The enclosed handbook explains all about this specific eclipse and how to safely view it. Suitable for kids to understand.
